Epica Day, the craft beer festival of Sinagra

Epica Day is the annual festival of the Birrificio Artigianale Epica, one of the most renowned breweries in the Nebrodi region. For two days, the brewery grounds in Contrada Filippello in Sinagra (province of Messina, Sicily) and the town's historic center come alive with thousands of visitors drawn by beer, music, and gastronomy. The event, which reached its eleventh edition in 2025, coincides with the brewery's anniversary and has established itself as one of the most cherished summer gatherings in the Nebrodi area.

A brewery born for the territory

The Epica Brewery was born from the passion of three friends from Sinagra, Carmelo, Pietro, and Elio, who, after starting as homebrewers, launched their craft business in 2013 with the goal of staying in Sicily and countering the depopulation of the Nebrodi hinterland. Epica beers are distinguished by careful, sustainable production linked to the local area, using selected ingredients and hops grown directly on the surrounding mountains. Epica Day is the moment when this philosophy is shared with the public.

The festival program

The festival runs from morning until late at night and offers a rich calendar of activities:

• Guided tours of the brewery's production facility
• Workshops and spaces dedicated to children, making it a family-friendly event
• Street food featuring Sicilian culinary excellence, including traditional dishes and creative pairings designed for the beers
• Live concerts and DJ sets to accompany the evenings

The Birralonga

The highlight of the event is the Birralonga, a sunset gastronomic walk through the alleys of Sinagra's historic center: a multi-stage route with tastings of local specialties paired with craft beers, winding all the way up to the village's ancient castle. The Birralonga requires advance booking and represents the most evocative way to experience the town and the bond between beer, history, and the gastronomy of the Nebrodi.

Sinagra and the Nebrodi

Nestled in the Nebrodi Park, the municipality of Sinagra is a small village in the province of Messina that becomes a reference point for craft beer enthusiasts and tourists during Epica Day. The event promotes the territory, traditions, and typical Sicilian products, offering an authentic experience that combines brewing culture, music, and conviviality in one of Sicily's most fascinating natural settings.
