About Enjoy Barocco Food Fest

In Punta Secca, a seaside hamlet of Santa Croce Camerina, the Enjoy Barocco Food Fest – Tradition at the Table kicks off a culinary journey promoted by GAL Terra Barocca in South East Sicily. Featuring "Hands in the Dough" workshops, communal tastings in the squares, cooking shows with chefs and master pastry chefs, live performances, and a producers' market, this first stop celebrates San Giuseppe bread, cassatelle, and rice and salt cod fritters in one of the most picturesque villages in the province of Ragusa.

The taste of the Baroque by the sea

The Enjoy Barocco Food Fest – Tradition at the Table is a traveling food and wine festival promoted by GAL Terra Barocca as part of the Enjoy Barocco – South East Sicily tourism project, which unites the municipalities of South East Sicily. The inaugural stop takes place in Punta Secca, the enchanting seaside hamlet of Santa Croce Camerina, in the province of Ragusa, made world-famous as the beach of Inspector Montalbano.

For two days, the village square, overlooking the lighthouse and the sea, transforms into a large communal table where producers, artisans, chefs, families, and visitors meet to share and enjoy the identity of the Iblean territory.

A format that puts cooking at the center

Each stop of the festival offers a consistent format that makes food a space for meeting and passing on knowledge:

  • "Hands in the Dough" workshops: adults and children learn to knead bread and prepare traditional dishes, guided by local housewives and bakers.
  • Communal tastings: long tables set up in the square to share the flavors of the territory.
  • Cooking shows: demonstrations led by chefs and master pastry chefs from the Iblean district.
  • Live performances: street artists, music, and puppet theater enliven the evenings.
  • Producers' market: a market-exhibition where you can buy directly from local producers.

The specialties of Punta Secca

The Santa Croce Camerina stop is dedicated to some of the local traditional excellences: San Giuseppe bread, cassatelle, and rice and salt cod fritters. The workshop dedicated to San Giuseppe bread, led by the village grandmothers, is one of the most popular moments of the entire event.

A five-stop journey in South East Sicily

From Santa Croce Camerina, the festival continues its journey, touching the other centers of the Iblean Baroque: Ispica, with its new IGP carrot, Ragusa, with the scaccia ragusana, Scicli, with peasant dishes like "Tianu che Ciciri", to conclude in Modica, in the spectacular Castle, with its famous IGP chocolate and fava cottoia beans. A journey that enhances the entire Terra Barocca, a UNESCO World Heritage site in south-eastern Sicily.

Enjoy Barocco Food Fest — edition 2026

Following the success of the first edition, the Enjoy Barocco Food Fest – Tradition at the Table is expected to return to Punta Secca, in Santa Croce Camerina, as a stop on the traveling food festival of GAL Terra Barocca. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers. As with the first edition, a program rich in "Hands in the Dough" workshops, communal tastings, cooking shows, and live performances dedicated to the gastronomic excellences of the Iblean territory is expected.

The 2026 edition of the Enjoy Barocco Food Fest in Punta Secca has not yet been officially scheduled. The Enjoy Barocco – South East Sicily project, promoted by GAL Terra Barocca, continues its path of tourist enhancement of the Terra Barocca, but the dates and the program for the new Santa Croce Camerina stop are not yet available. Information will be updated as soon as it is communicated by the organizers.
