The open-water long-distance swimming challenge between Favignana and Levanzo
Egadi Ultra Swim is one of the most evocative open-water swimming marathons in the Mediterranean, hosted in the Municipality of Favignana, in the Province of Trapani, at the western tip of Sicily. The event takes place entirely within the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area, one of the largest marine reserves in Europe, where clear waters and life-rich seabeds make every crossing a unique experience.
The event offers two distances designed for athletes of different levels, both immersed in an extraordinary natural setting:
Born as a swimming crossing between the islands, Egadi Ultra Swim has grown edition after edition to become an internationally renowned appointment: swimmers from various European nations reach Favignana to test themselves against the channel currents and the long distance in open water. The competition is organized by ASD TriROCK under the aegis of the ASI Sports Promotion Body, with the patronage of the Municipality of Favignana – Egadi Islands.
The Egadi archipelago, off the coast of Trapani, is famous for the turquoise color of its sea, the tradition of the tuna fishery (tonnara), and a Mediterranean landscape that provides the ideal backdrop for an outdoor sporting event. For open-water swimming enthusiasts and nature lovers, Egadi Ultra Swim combines competitive challenge with the charm of one of the most beautiful stretches of sea in Sicily.
The fourth edition of Egadi Ultra Swim was sold out with 130 registered athletes, including 28 international swimmers from seven nations. The event opened on Friday, May 29, with the opening of the secretariat (4:00 PM), the press conference (5:00 PM), and the technical briefing (5:15 PM).

It is recommended to book accommodation and ferries well in advance, especially during the high season. Safety boat assistance is provided for swimmers along the routes.
