Two days of sports, music, and health awareness in Santena
The Donation Festival - CI.FRA is a charity event that brings the Municipality of Santena, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, to life every year. Organized by the Francesca Caparelli CI.FRA ODV Association, the event takes place at the Oratorio San Luigi and celebrates solidarity, prevention, and the importance of donation in all its forms. The festival is dedicated to the memory of Francesca Caparelli and was created to raise community awareness regarding health, cancer prevention, and the act of giving.
The festival spans two days, weaving together different disciplines and themes. The mornings are dedicated to prevention, featuring information stands from local associations and numerous free specialist medical check-ups. In the afternoon and evening, the focus shifts to sports and music, with tournaments open to everyone, discussion panels, and concerts by local bands and emerging artists. The atmosphere is that of a typical Piedmontese village festival, where fun serves a concrete cause.
Depending on the edition, free health services offered include screenings and check-ups for:
The sports component is one of the event's hallmarks. Tournaments include beach volleyball (the "Francesca Caparelli Memorial"), 5-a-side football, 3-on-3 basketball, as well as darts and table tennis. The highlight of Sunday is the Ci.FRun, an 8 km non-competitive race with an alternative 4 km walk, starting from the center of Santena.
The heart of the event remains charitable: part of the proceeds is donated to UGI - Italian Parents' Union, which supports children suffering from cancer and their families. The Donation Festival thus confirms itself as an appointment that combines the vibrancy of a community festival with a civic and charitable commitment rooted in the social fabric of Santena and the Province of Turin.
The third edition was held on June 13 and 14, 2026, at the Oratorio San Luigi in Santena. The mornings offered information stands and free specialist check-ups (urology, senology, dermatology, carotid ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, hearing tests, cognitive screening, speech therapy, and workshops for children). Saturday afternoon featured the talk "Hikikomori: young people who withdraw," followed in the evening by a concert of local bands and emerging artists. Sunday morning was headlined by the Ci.FRun race (8 km) with a 4 km walk. The event concluded on Sunday evening with tournament finals, award ceremonies, and speeches by authorities.
