Jazz, swing, soul, and blues in the snow, from the Teatro Marmolada to the mountain huts of Canazei
Dolomiti Ski Jazz is one of the most original musical events in the Alps: a traveling festival that blends a passion for skiing with a love for music, spreading concerts across slopes, high-altitude mountain huts, theaters, and local venues in the Fassa, Fiemme, and Cembra valleys of Trentino. Every year in early March, for about ten days, black music (jazz, swing, soul, blues, funk, and Latin) resonates among the peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, in an experience that weaves together winter sports, nature, and mountain gastronomy.
In the Municipality of Canazei, in the Province of Trento, the festival finds one of its most important venues: the Teatro Marmolada hosts some of the most popular evening shows, while the Bar Après Ski International and local venues host daytime sets and après-ski evenings. At higher altitudes, the mountain huts of the Belvedere ski area and the Col Rodella zone complete the calendar with concerts on sun-drenched terraces, accessible via ski lifts even for non-skiers. Canazei, at the foot of the Sella, Sassolungo, and Marmolada groups, offers one of the most evocative settings in the entire circuit.
The program follows the rhythm of a day in the mountains. Mornings and afternoons at altitude feature concerts directly on the slopes and mountain hut terraces; at sunset, the town squares light up with Street Parades, while pubs, après-ski venues, and theaters become the heart of the evenings, featuring live sets, jam sessions, and performances by international artists.
Under the artistic direction of Enrico Tommasini, the festival attracts nearly one hundred musicians from the Italian and international jazz scene every year, with a lineup ranging from swing to blues, funk to soul, and Latin music, capable of satisfying connoisseurs while engaging less experienced audiences.
Dolomiti Ski Jazz is not just about music: the Happy Cheese formula pairs performances with the promotion of local alpine cheeses, Val di Cembra wines, and local craft beers, inviting the public to discover the flavors of Trentino between one concert and the next. It is the way the festival celebrates the identity of the Ladin valleys, where gastronomic and musical traditions meet on the terraces of the mountain huts.
Most events are free of charge: concerts at high altitude, in mountain huts, and in local venues are open to everyone. Exceptions are the evening shows in theaters, including the Teatro Marmolada in Canazei, for which tickets can be purchased online via the VivaTicket circuit. The festival takes place in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and is organized as part of Trentino Jazz with the support of the Val di Fassa Tourist Board.
The 30th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz, held from March 6 to 15, 2026, celebrated thirty years of the festival with nearly one hundred musicians, 25 locations, and about 28 concerts across the Fassa, Fiemme, and Cembra valleys, under the artistic direction of Enrico Tommasini.
At the Teatro Marmolada in Canazei, on March 8th, singer-songwriter Patrizia Laquidara opened International Women's Day with one of the most acclaimed concerts of the lineup. The Bar Après Ski International and local venues hosted daytime sets, while at high altitude, in the Belvedere and Col Rodella areas, music enlivened the terraces of the mountain huts.
Guests of the edition included prominent names from the global jazz scene such as Logan Richardson, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Harish Raghavan, Pietro Tonolo, Kinga Glyk, Frank Gambale, and Ray Gelato, for a program spanning jazz, swing, blues, funk, and Latin music.
Most high-altitude and local venue concerts were free; evening theater shows were ticketed (single tickets 15-25 euros, passes around 90 euros) via VivaTicket.

Canazei can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (Egna-Ora or Bolzano Nord exits) by driving up the Val di Fassa along the SS48 Dolomite road. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected by regular bus services to the valleys.
Admission is free for most high-altitude and local venue concerts. Evening theater shows, including those at the Teatro Marmolada, are ticketed: single tickets range from 15 to 25 euros, and passes for the entire theater program cost around 90 euros, available in advance on VivaTicket.
