The school theatre-education festival in Lanzo Torinese
Dire, Fare… Teatrare is a theatre-education festival held every year in Lanzo Torinese, a town at the gateway to the Valli di Lanzo, in the province of Turin and the heart of Piedmont. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Lanzo Torinese in collaboration with the Macapà Cultural Association and the national RA.RE network, coordinated by AGITA, the leading association for educational theatre in Italy.
The initiative is aimed at primary and secondary schools, as well as extracurricular workshops and community theatre groups. The goal is not competition, but sharing: each group presents its own work while watching others, in an atmosphere of exchange and dialogue that makes theatre a tool for personal and collective growth.
The festival's daily routine goes far beyond the stage. Participating groups are encouraged to live the full experience: watching others' performances, taking part in the "Theatre Lounge" — a guided discussion space where experts and students reflect together on the works seen — and engaging in school exchange workshops. Performances last a maximum of sixty minutes, and each group brings its own sets, costumes, and music, with technical stage access provided just before the show.
The 14th edition, scheduled from May 14th to 22nd, 2026, at the LanzoIncontra venue in Piazza Rolle, revolves around the macro-theme of Education for Legality and Citizenship, explored through the lens of "Light & Shadow". It is an invitation for students and teachers to reflect on human, social, and relational dualities, the complexity of behaviour, and the possibilities for change — all explored through the language of theatre.
Founded in 2013, Dire, Fare… Teatrare has become a staple of the Lanzo Torinese cultural calendar over the years and a benchmark for theatre-education in Piedmont. Each edition has proposed a different theme — from emotions to legality — confirming the school's role as a place where theatre becomes a formative experience, capable of combining artistic expression with civic reflection.
The 2026 edition focused on the theme "Light & Shadow", a variation of the macro-theme of Education for Legality and Citizenship. Primary and secondary schools, along with extracurricular workshops and community groups, presented their performances — lasting up to one hour — alternating them with the discussions of the Theatre Lounge and exchange workshops.
The festival confirmed itself as one of the most cherished events in the Lanzo Torinese cultural calendar, transforming the LanzoIncontra stage into a space for shared growth for students and teachers alike.
The 14th edition spanned several days, from May 14 to 22, 2026, featuring performances by participating schools and groups. Each day alternated between stage productions, Theatre Lounge sessions, and school exchange workshops. The detailed performance schedule was defined and communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Performances take place at LanzoIncontra, Piazza Rolle 1, in Lanzo Torinese (TO).
By car from Turin: approximately 35 km along the SP1 towards Valli di Lanzo. By train: the Lanzo Torinese station is served by the Turin Metropolitan Railway Service (SFM).
The festival is aimed at school and community groups; registrations are collected by mid-February at the Municipal Education Office ([email protected], tel. 0123 300436). The participation fee for groups is 80 euros. The calendar of performances open to the public is announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
