About Diorama Festival

The Diorama Festival transforms the historic center of Spoltore, in the province of Pescara, into a widespread stage where electronic music, contemporary art, and urban sports intertwine. Balconies, towers, and alleys of this Abruzzo village become the setting for sunset DJ sets, live performances, art installations, and urban climbing competitions. As the final stop of a traveling festival that crosses the four provinces of Abruzzo, the event unites mountain and coastal culture in a free-admission weekend.

A widespread festival in the village of Spoltore

The Diorama Festival is a traveling event that traverses the four provinces of Abruzzo, finding one of its most evocative settings in Spoltore, a town in the province of Pescara. For an entire weekend, the historic center of the village turns into a widespread stage: private balconies, the Belvedere del Torrione, Piazza D'Albenzio, Spazio Iris, and Largo San Giovanni host music, contemporary art, and urban sports, creating a continuous dialogue between architectural heritage and contemporary creative languages.

Music, DJ sets, and sunset live shows

The musical program is one of the festival's beating hearts. DJ sets animate the balconies overlooking the alleys, while live concerts transform the Belvedere del Torrione into a natural stage with a view over Abruzzo at sunset. The weekend alternates between electronic music, experimental sounds, and dance, featuring artists ranging from the regional scene to nationally renowned names, closing the evenings with live performances in the central Piazza D'Albenzio.

Contemporary art and performances

The Diorama Festival dedicates ample space to visual arts, in collaboration with the ABAQ – Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila. Contemporary art exhibitions, installations, and site-specific performances guide the public through the village spaces, while artist residency projects bring new works specifically designed for Spoltore. The festival also proposes sustainability initiatives such as swap parties and nature-themed photography exhibitions.

Spoltore Urban Climbing

A distinctive element of the event is the Spoltore Urban Climbing: the village becomes an open-air vertical wall. In Largo San Giovanni, structures for climbing and street bouldering are set up, with competitions open to all ages, free practice sessions, mountain safety conferences, and meetings with alpine guides, in collaboration with CAI Abruzzo and CNSAS Abruzzo. It is the moment when, as the festival's spirit suggests, mountain culture meets coastal culture.

A free event in the heart of Abruzzo

The Spoltore stop of the Diorama Festival is free to enter and is organized by the Municipality of Spoltore under the artistic direction of Paolo Cicalini, with the patronage of the Abruzzo Region and the Ministry of Culture. Food and wine stands with typical local products and options for all tastes complete the offering, making the event an ideal opportunity to discover the village, its atmosphere, and the cultural identity of the Abruzzo Region.

Diorama Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Spoltore stop of the Diorama Festival took place on June 27 and 28, turning the historic center into a stage for electronic music, contemporary art, and urban climbing. Two days of free admission with balcony DJ sets, sunset live shows, performances by the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila, and the Spoltore Urban Climbing competitions in Largo San Giovanni.
