The historic agricultural and livestock exhibition of the Mugello and Valdisieve regions
The Dicomano May Fair is one of the most beloved events in the Valdisieve and Mugello regions. This historic spring agricultural and livestock exhibition transforms the town center, located in the province of Florence, into a sprawling, vibrant festival every year. For three days, the squares, streets, and parks of the Dicomano municipality are filled with stalls, animals, delicious aromas, and music, in an event deeply rooted in the Tuscan farming tradition.
The heart of the Fair is Parco dell'Albereta, which hosts the local breeders' livestock exhibition, featuring cattle, sheep, and farm animals. This area also hosts educational agricultural activities and a petting farm, designed to introduce both adults and children to the world of farming and country life. Along Via Mazzini, you will find agricultural machinery, locally sourced food products, and local crafts, while the town streets host a market dedicated to gastronomy and local specialties.
Piazza della Repubblica is the gastronomic soul of the event, offering international street food, local specialties, and wine tastings. Piazza Buonamici is the hub for evening entertainment, featuring aperitifs, live music, street bands, and DJ sets. The Fair also pays great attention to children, with sustainable play workshops, shows, and experiential trails for families spread throughout the town.
One of the most anticipated events is Terre di Dicomano, an equestrian gathering promoted by the A.R.A.T. association and the Dicomano Horse group, offering the chance for a first horseback ride. The program is rounded out by guided tours of the Frascole archaeological excavations, exhibitions, conferences on livestock farming in the Mugello and Valdisieve areas, and tastings of local products such as honey.
Organized by the Municipality of Dicomano in collaboration with A.R.A.T. (Regional Association of Tuscan Breeders), the Unione Montana dei Comuni del Mugello, the Christian Workers Movement, the Dicomano Carnival, and the Dicomano Merchants Committee, the May Fair is a free-entry event that celebrates local traditions and strengthens the bond between the community and local producers. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the authenticity of the Valdisieve and Mugello regions, just a few kilometers from Florence.
The 2026 edition of the Dicomano May Fair was held from May 8 to 10, confirming its popular format spread across the squares and streets of the town in the province of Florence. Parco dell'Albereta hosted the livestock exhibition and educational agriculture activities, while Via Mazzini welcomed agricultural machinery, locally sourced products, and local crafts.
New features included the inauguration of the VAB32 Valdisieve headquarters at the station square and the 2026 Pontevecchio Prize ceremony. The event also featured the Terre di Dicomano equestrian gathering, guided tours of the Frascole excavations, and activities for children.
Wine and honey tastings and international cuisine enlivened Piazza della Repubblica for the entire duration of the event.
Dicomano is located in the Valdisieve area, about 35 km from Florence. By car, it can be reached via the SS67 and SR70 roads; by train, take the Faentina line (Dicomano station), which connects Florence to the Mugello region.
Admission to the Fair's exhibition area is free of charge.
The event takes place in the center of Dicomano: Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Buonamici, Via Dante Alighieri, Via Mazzini, Via di Bruciatoia, Parco dell'Albereta, the sports facilities, and the station square.
Wear comfortable shoes to walk between the various locations in town and plan to stop for lunch or an aperitif in the food areas.
