About Dale 5 ale 5

Dale 5 ale 5 – MatiLori en Festa is the local village festival of Matassone, a small community in the municipality of Vallarsa, Trentino. Two days of festivities animated by the MatiLori group, featuring traditional cuisine, music, and local conviviality. The name, taken from the local dialect, evokes a party that lasts until the early hours of the morning, when the whole village gathers to celebrate summer together.

The Matassone village festival

Dale 5 ale 5 – MatiLori en Festa is the summer festival of Matassone, a tiny mountain hamlet perched at over 800 meters above sea level in the municipality of Vallarsa, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). For a weekend in June, the small village—which has barely fifty residents—becomes the beating heart of the valley, attracting locals, vacationers, and hikers from the surrounding hamlets.

The MatiLori group

The soul of the festival is the MatiLori group, a team of volunteers who keep the Matassone community alive throughout the year. The group is well-known in Vallarsa, especially for their Christmas initiative MatiLori il Paese dei Presepi, which fills the village and the former school with handcrafted nativity scenes every winter. With Dale 5 ale 5, the group hosts the summer event, designed as a moment of gathering and fundraising to support the hamlet's activities.

The name and spirit of the festival

The curious title Dale 5 ale 5 comes from the local dialect and literally means "from five to five": a playful way to describe a party that starts in the afternoon and continues until the first light of dawn. It is the perfect portrait of a Trentino village festival, where good food, music, and the desire to be together know no time limits.

Atmosphere and tradition

  • Traditional Trentino cuisine with mountain dishes
  • Food stalls and refreshment points managed by volunteers
  • Live music and evening entertainment
  • Convivial moments open to families and children

More than just a big event, Dale 5 ale 5 is an authentic, community-sized festival where visitors can breathe in the genuine hospitality of the Vallarsa hamlets. Those who climb up to Matassone will also find a territory rich in history: the hamlet preserves traces of the Great War's defensive system, with the famous Forte di Matassone located just a short distance from the village.

A weekend among the villages of the Valli del Leno

The festival is part of the Vallarsa summer calendar, which rotates through the various hamlets of the municipality each year. Participating in Dale 5 ale 5 is the ideal opportunity to discover a little-known corner of Trentino, amidst meadows, forests, and villages that still preserve the rhythms and traditions of the past.

Dale 5 ale 5 — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Dale 5 ale 5 – MatiLori en Festa took place on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, in the hamlet of Matassone, in Vallarsa. As per tradition, the MatiLori group enlivened the village with two days of festivities featuring traditional Trentino cuisine, music, and moments of conviviality open to residents, vacationers, and hikers.

The village festival of Matassone, in Vallarsa, returned on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, with the event Dale 5 ale 5 – MatiLori en Festa. The dates were officially confirmed by the Visit Vallarsa events calendar. Once again this year, the MatiLori group set up food stalls and refreshment points in the small mountain village, offering traditional Trentino dishes in a festive atmosphere that, as the dialect name suggests, lasted from the afternoon until late at night.
