Theatre and cultural festival between Avezzano and Alba Fucens
The Dal Tramonto all'Alba OFF festival is one of the most significant cultural experiences in the Marsica territory and the only theatre festival in Abruzzo recognized by the Ministry of Culture, capable of hosting national premieres and prominent figures from the Italian theatre scene. Promoted by the Associazione Teatranti Tra Tanti, the event takes place every summer between the Municipality of Avezzano and nearby Alba Fucens, in the Municipality of Massa d'Albe, in the province of L'Aquila.
The event unites two fascinating settings. In Avezzano, performances are held in the Orsini Castle Gardens and at the Aia dei Musei, in the heart of the city. The festival then continues in Alba Fucens, one of the most important archaeological sites in Abruzzo, where performances come to life among the Medieval Village, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Church of San Pietro, with events ranging from sunset until dawn, true to the spirit that gives the festival its name.
The programme alternates between prose theatre, monologues, comedy, live music, and tributes to the greats of Italian and international culture. Each edition offers several national premieres and hosts well-known stage names, in a calendar that spans weeks and enhances the cultural vocation of the Marsica region. The artistic direction is entrusted to Filippo D'Alessio.
Realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Avezzano, the Municipality of Massa d'Albe, and the Fondazione Carispaq, Dal Tramonto all'Alba OFF has become a staple of the Abruzzo summer. Attending a show among the Roman ruins of Alba Fucens or in the greenery of the Orsini Castle Gardens means experiencing theatre in a unique dialogue between contemporary art and historical heritage.
The eighth edition of the festival runs from July 3 to August 22, 2026, with twenty-four events moving from the Orsini Castle Gardens and the Aia dei Musei in Avezzano to the Medieval Village, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Church of San Pietro in Alba Fucens.
The programme opens on July 3 with Anna Mazzamauro in "Brava, Bravissima... Anche Meno". On July 5, it is the turn of Debora Caprioglio and Roberto D'Alessandro with "La Colomba e l'Elefante", dedicated to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Following, among others, are "De Profundis" by Oscar Wilde with Daniele Paoloni, Nando Citarella and the Tamburi del Vesuvio, "Il Malato Immaginario" with Edoardo Siravo, the Queen tribute "ReQueen", the tribute to Modugno "Io Mimmo M", and several national premieres such as "Levitomadre", "Amarockcriminale", and "Lastronza". The festival closes on August 22 with "Starman - L'Alieno che Cadde sulla Terra".
Avezzano can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway (Avezzano exit) and by train via the Avezzano station on the Rome-Pescara line. Alba Fucens is just a few kilometres from the centre, in the Municipality of Massa d'Albe.
Tickets are available online on the i-ticket.it platform and at physical points of sale: Libreria Ubik in Avezzano and the Information Kiosk in Largo Pomilio.
