The ultimate showdown between Cuneo's high schools through theatre, dance, and music
The Cuneo Student Festival is one of the most cherished events for the school community in the capital of the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Created to give a voice and a stage to high school students, the festival features local schools competing in an artistic challenge that ranges from theatre and dance to music. Now in its 27th edition in 2026, it is organised by the Associazione La Beda, with the support of the Municipality of Cuneo and the Fondazione CRC.
For several days, the festival brings the city's main cultural venues to life. The theatre evenings are held at the Teatro Toselli, the historic city theatre, while the grand finale, featuring dance and music performances followed by the awards ceremony, takes place at the NUoVO in Parco della Gioventù. Each school fields its own team of students, who compete in a true team-based contest: a jury evaluates the performances across different disciplines, and at the end, awards are presented, most notably the Student Festival Trophy.
Competing for the title are the main high schools of the Cuneo area, including the "S. Pellico" Classical Lyceum, the "G. Peano" Scientific Lyceum, the "E. De Amicis" Lyceum, the "Ego Bianchi" Artistic and Musical Lyceum, the "M. Delpozzo" ITIS, the "Sebastiano Grandis" Institute, and the "Virginio-Donadio" Hotel Management Institute. Hundreds of students take the stage, supported by classmates, families, and teachers who fill the venues.
The Student Festival is about more than just winning: it is an opportunity for growth and community building. Alongside the awards for individual disciplines, the event presents special honours such as the "Golden Trumpeter" and the "Empathy Award". The festival also promotes the #Bullononfafigo project, dedicated to raising awareness against bullying and cyberbullying, demonstrating how the event successfully blends art, entertainment, and civic responsibility in the heart of Cuneo.
The 27th edition of the Student Festival confirmed the great popularity of the Cuneo event, with seven high schools competing. The theatre evenings opened the festival at the Teatro Toselli, followed by the grand finale on 11 June at the NUoVO with dance, music, and the awards ceremony. The "Ego Bianchi" Artistic and Musical Lyceum triumphed in the overall standings, ahead of the ITIS "Delpozzo" and the "Pellico" Classical Lyceum.
The two opening evenings were dedicated to the theatrical performances of the competing schools.
The theatre evenings take place at the Teatro Toselli, on Via Teatro Toselli in Cuneo. The final evening featuring dance, music, and the awards ceremony is held at the NUoVO, in Cuneo's Parco della Gioventù.
Cuneo is well-connected by train (Cuneo station, with lines to Turin and Ventimiglia) and by car via the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway. The city centre and Parco della Gioventù are easily accessible on foot or by local public transport.
