Four days dedicated to the Highlands in the heart of Cuneo
The Cuneo Mountain Festival is one of the most anticipated cultural events of the spring in the capital of the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Established in 2023, the festival is organized by the Municipality of Cuneo with the patronage of the Piedmont Region, Uncem Piemonte, the Province of Cuneo, and the Cuneo Chamber of Commerce. Its "diffused" format brings talks, conferences, screenings, concerts, exhibitions, and workshops to numerous venues in the historic center, from the Monviso cinema to the Town Hall's grand salon, from the Fondazione CRC Meeting Space to La Casa del Fiume, and the central Via Roma.
The fourth edition, scheduled from May 14 to 17, 2026, revolves around the theme of "Sconfini" (Boundaries): an invitation to step out of your comfort zone and look at the Highlands beyond stereotypes and prejudices. For four days, the mountains are explored as a place of encounter between territories, generations, and disciplines, from alpine architecture to trail running, and from summit photography to Occitan music.
The program alternates between big names and local voices. Guests from recent editions include cross-country skiing champion Federico "Chicco" Pellegrino, Cuneo-based trail runner Davide Rivero, and anthropologist and runner Michael Crawley. Alongside talks and performance-conferences, the festival offers:
A key strength of the Cuneo Mountain Festival is its accessibility: almost all events are free to enter, with online booking required for events with limited seating. This choice makes the Cuneo festival an opportunity open to families, mountain enthusiasts, students, and the curious, capable of enlivening the center of Cuneo and fostering dialogue between the capital, the valleys, and the cross-border territories of the Southern Alps.
The 2026 edition of the Cuneo Mountain Festival, dedicated to the theme of "Sconfini", took place from May 14 to 17 in a diffused format in the center of Cuneo, preceded by some off-festival events (the writing workshop with Davide Longo on May 9-10 and "Mountain Echoes" by Yuval Avital on May 13) and followed by closing events on May 22. Guests included cross-country skiing champion Federico "Chicco" Pellegrino, trail runner Davide Rivero, and anthropologist Michael Crawley.
Cuneo is well-connected by train (Cuneo station, lines to Turin, Saluzzo, and Ventimiglia) and by car via the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway. The festival venues are located in the historic center and are within walking distance.
Monviso cinema, Town Hall grand salon, Fondazione CRC Meeting Space, La Casa del Fiume, Via Roma, and Piazza Virginio.
Admission to almost all events is free; some events with limited capacity require booking via Eventbrite. The writing workshop costs 10 euros.
