Cover Fest is one of the most vibrant and youthful musical additions to the summer in Gangi, a charming medieval village in the Metropolitan City of Palermo. Perched on Mount Marone in the heart of the Madonie Park and listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Gangi provides a stunning backdrop. Launched in 2024 as a highlight of the municipal summer calendar, the festival fills the squares of the historic center with performances by the best Sicilian tribute bands, dedicated to the icons of Italian and international music.
A tribute to music legends
The concept behind Cover Fest is simple yet compelling: entrusting specialized bands to bring the repertoires that shaped music history back to the stage. Gangi's stages have hosted groups paying tribute to artists such as Pooh, U2, Antonello Venditti, Negramaro, Zucchero Fornaciari, Rino Gaetano, Renato Zero, and Eros Ramazzotti. The program is designed to engage multiple generations, from those nostalgic for Italian pop to younger fans of international rock.
Squares as stages
The evenings unfold across two locations in the historic center: Piazza del Popolo, the town's monumental heart, and the more intimate Piazzetta Zoppo, where the festivities continue late into the night. The free-entry format and open-air atmosphere make Cover Fest a social hub that draws both residents and visitors, especially during a time when Gangi is at the peak of its tourist season, coinciding with the historic Sagra della Spiga (Ear of Wheat Festival) and other summer events.
Gangi, a village of stone and celebration
Experiencing Cover Fest is also an opportunity to discover Gangi: a labyrinth of alleys, staircases, and stone houses cascading down the valley, dominated by the Torre dei Ventimiglia and the Mother Church of San Nicolò. The festival is part of a local tradition that turns the Gangi summer into a true open-air theater, organized by the municipal administration with the support of local partners like the Drink House Pub and the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Palermo.

Getting there
Gangi can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (exit at Tre Monzelli or Resuttano), continuing along the SS120 towards the Madonie. The nearest train station is Gangi-Geraci (Palermo-Catania line), connected to the town center by local buses. The reference airport is Palermo-Punta Raisi.
Admission and hours
Admission to the concerts is free. Performances take place in Piazza del Popolo (usually around 9:30 PM) and continue in Piazzetta Zoppo for the late-night sets. It is advisable to arrive early to find parking in the areas outside the historic center, which is restricted to traffic during events.
Tips
August in Gangi coincides with the Sagra della Spiga and numerous other events: it is recommended to book accommodation in the village or nearby Madonie towns well in advance. Evenings at this altitude can be cool, so a light jacket is useful.
