A yurt in the mountains of the Stura Valley
In the small town of Aisone, in the upper Stura Valley (Province of Cuneo, Piedmont), a yurt set up in the Pilun area, near the Cross-Country Ski Center, serves as the heart of a project centered on community. Community Yurt showcases the Mountain Therapy Base Camp yurt, opening its doors to children, families, and adults with activities that blend nature, culture, and social connection in a quiet corner of the Cuneo Alps.
A widespread festival with free admission
The program runs throughout the year, from spring to autumn, alternating between local venues: the Pilun yurt for outdoor activities and workshops, and the Crusà (the former Santa Croce Confraternity on Via Roma) for evening screenings. The schedule ranges from hiking trips along the Stura River to traditional Alpine storytelling, from auteur films to creative workshops for children, and folk music concerts. Every event is free to attend until capacity is reached, with mandatory booking required only for guided walks.
Behind the project
The festival is led by the Municipality of Aisone, with the support of the Pro Loco and the Unione Montana Valle Stura, and is funded by the "Spring 2025" call for projects by the Fondazione CRC. Recurring participants include environmental hiking guide Luca Franco, storyteller and "poetry passer" Caterina Ramonda, and the cultural organization Noau Officina Culturale, which hosts the children's workshops.
What to expect
Community Yurt is not a massive festival for thousands of people, but an intimate and authentic mountain experience: walking through the woods of the Stura Valley, listening to stories and legends under the tent, sharing a snack with the Pro Loco, and letting yourself be carried away by folk music. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of the Cuneo area and experience the slow rhythm of Alpine villages.

Spring 2026 at the Aisone yurt
The 2026 spring season of the festival opens with cinema and closes with the summer solstice celebration. Four events, between the Crusà and the Pilun yurt, to experience the mountains of the Stura Valley through nature, culture, and tradition. Admission is always free until capacity is reached.

Friday, March 20, 2026 — 9:00 PM (Crusà )
- Screening of "Nomadland" by Chloé Zhao, starring Frances McDormand — winner of the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress, and the Golden Lion in Venice. Free admission.
Saturday, April 11, 2026 — 3:00 PM (Pilun yurt)
- "Babushka's Garden" — visual reading and hands-on workshop for children aged 6 and up and families, hosted by Noau Officina Culturale.
Sunday, May 17, 2026 — 2:00 PM (Pilun yurt)
- "How to become a world explorer" — walk, observation activities, and hands-on workshop with Luca Franco and Noau Officina Culturale.
Sunday, June 14, 2026 — from 3:00 PM (Pilun yurt)
"En esperant San Joan — Waiting for Saint John. Steps, stories, and music for a community yurt", the closing event dedicated to the summer solstice.
- 3:00 PM — Hiking walk along the Stura River (approx. 3 km), led by guide Luca Franco, dedicated to the "stories of the plant world." Booking required.
- 4:30 PM — Storytelling by Caterina Ramonda, featuring traditional tales about the night of Saint John.
- 6:00 PM — Concert by the ensemble Triorà (Nadia Khreiwesh, Miriam Rubeis, Francesca Veglio): traditional folk songs, "medicine songs," and sound journeys.

Practical information — Community Yurt
Location
Mountain Therapy Base Camp Yurt, Pilun area, near the Aisone Cross-Country Ski Center (CN). Some evening screenings take place at the Crusà , the former Santa Croce Confraternity, Via Roma 49/a.
How to reach us
Aisone is located along the Stura Valley state road (SS21 of the Colle della Maddalena), between Demonte and Vinadio, about an hour's drive from Cuneo. The yurt can be reached from the town center by following signs for the Cross-Country Ski Center.
Admission and bookings

Tips
For walks, comfortable trekking clothing and footwear suitable for mountain trails are recommended. We suggest bringing water and a jacket, given the altitude and the Alpine environment.
