Two days of legality, participation, and active citizenship in Volvera
The Commons Festival takes place at Cascina Arzilla, in the municipality of Volvera, in the province of Turin, in the heart of Piedmont. For a full weekend in June, the farmhouse opens its doors to the public with meetings, performances, and shared moments to rediscover the value of common goods and one of the symbolic places of the area's social rebirth.
Cascina Arzilla is one of the first properties in Northern Italy to be confiscated from organized crime. Since 2004, thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Volvera and the Acmos association, the farmhouse in Regione Serafini has been transformed from a dilapidated structure into a place of legality and collective commitment. Today, the farmhouse stands as a bastion of legality, participation, and active citizenship, dedicated to the memory of two young innocent victims of the mafia, Rita Atria and Antonio Landieri.
The festival is the culmination of a journey undertaken in recent years by the Janpi network, a collective born in 2023 from the union of the Jaqulรจ, Acmos, Anpi, and Agio associations, together with local stakeholders. The goal is to raise awareness of the history and significance of Cascina Arzilla, restoring focus to the themes of legality, social justice, and environmental protection.
A free and participatory event, designed for families, young people, and residents of Volvera and neighboring towns, which combines popular celebration with civic reflection in one of the most significant places in the province of Turin.
The 2026 Commons Festival brought Cascina Arzilla in Volvera to life on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14. The event, promoted by the Janpi network together with local associations, offered meetings, performances, and shared moments to rediscover the value of common goods and one of the symbolic places of the social rebirth of the province of Turin.
Among the initiatives, a large treasure hunt through the town streets and the traditional shared picnic in the farmhouse garden, in an atmosphere of popular celebration and civic commitment.
