The chamber music festival connecting the towns of the South Tyrolean Unterland
Classic and More is a classical and chamber music series that enlivens the towns of the Bassa Atesina (Unterland) every summer, in the southern part of the autonomous province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The festival was born with the goal of creating a territorial and cultural bond between the villages of this bilingual area, bringing great music to halls and venues that usually remain outside the major concert circuits. The Municipality of Bronzolo/Branzoll is one of the historic protagonists of the event and hosts some of the concerts in its Cultural Centre (Kulturhaus).
The distinctive feature of Classic and More is its itinerant and inter-municipal nature. The concerts are spread across about ten towns in the Unterland: in addition to Bronzolo, the series usually reaches Egna, Ora, Vadena, Cortina sulla Strada del Vino, Cortaccia, Termeno, Salorno, Montagna, and Trodena. Every evening changes location, allowing the public to discover the cultural halls, churches, and civic spaces of the territory, while the inhabitants of the different villages come together around a common project.
The heart of the festival is chamber music: string quartets, wind ensembles, piano duos, trios, and solo formations alternate throughout the summer. The repertoire ranges from the great authors of the past to the music of our days, with openings towards jazz, blues, and flamenco, as well as more experimental proposals that combine sound and image. The artistic level is curated by the festival's management, which over the years has brought South Tyrolean musicians and international guests to the Bassa Atesina.
One of the hallmarks of Classic and More is that it is free of charge: concerts have free admission, often with the option of a voluntary donation for charitable purposes. This choice makes the festival an opportunity to bring classical music to everyone, from families to young people, and makes it a beloved event for local communities. The event is promoted by the Italian Culture Department of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano together with the culture departments of the involved municipalities.
Located along the Adige river between Bolzano and the Bassa Atesina, Bronzolo/Branzoll is a bilingual town that experiences the summer season intensely. Attending a Classic and More concert at the Cultural Centre means experiencing the most authentic dimension of South Tyrol: a territory where the Central European musical tradition meets Italian cultural vibrancy, in a landscape made of vineyards, apple orchards, and mountains.
The 17th edition of the Classic and More festival enlivens the summer of 2026 in the towns of the Bassa Atesina. The calendar of the Municipality of Bronzolo/Branzoll indicates several evenings of the festival in July and August, hosted in the town's Cultural Centre. The event confirms its itinerant formula, with concerts distributed throughout the summer in the various villages of the Unterland.
As in previous editions, the program favours chamber music and the classical repertoire, with openings towards different genres. The concerts have free admission. Details of the ensembles, soloists, and times for individual appointments are published by the organizers close to each evening: it is recommended to consult the event calendar of the Municipality of Bronzolo and the official festival brochure.
Bronzolo/Branzoll is located a few kilometres south of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached from the A22 Brenner motorway (exits Bolzano Sud or Egna/Ora). By train, the Bronzolo station is served by the Bolzano–Trento line. The concerts are mainly held in the town's Cultural Centre (Kulturhaus).
Concerts generally have free admission, with a possible voluntary donation. It is advisable to check dates and venues on the event calendar of the Municipality of Bronzolo and the other towns of the Bassa Atesina.
The festival takes place across several towns in the Unterland: it is recommended to consult the official festival brochure to plan your evenings in the different locations.
