The Cäcilienkonzert, or St. Cecilia Concert, is the annual event where the Musikkapelle Leifers—the Leifers brass band—honors its patron saint, St. Cecilia, the protector of musicians. The concert is traditionally held in late autumn, around the November 22nd feast day, at the Sporthalle im Schuldurchgang Maria Damian, the school center gymnasium in Leifers. Admission is always free of charge.

A band with over a century of history

The Musikkapelle Leifers was officially established in 1881 as a volunteer fire brigade band (Feuerwehrkapelle), though the town's brass band tradition is even older: wind musicians from Leifers are documented as far back as a 1791 oil painting preserved in the parish church. For over a century, the band has accompanied the civic and religious life of the community, drawing its repertoire from the rich tradition of German-speaking folk music in South Tyrol.

A ritual for the Leifers community

The St. Cecilia Concert is much more than just a performance: it is a ritual that marks the year for the community of Leifers, a municipality in the Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-South Tyrol. Alongside the Cäcilienkonzert, the Musikkapelle Leifers performs at numerous religious celebrations and organizes a biennial carnival revue (Faschingsrevue) and a church concert (Kirchenkonzert).
