The autumn concert of the Tramin town band, blending music with the scent of the harvest
The Herbstkonzert der Bürgerkapelle Tramin, the autumn concert dedicated to the harvest (Konzert zur Weinlese), is one of the most anticipated musical events of the autumn season in Tramin an der Weinstraße, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The town band performs in the picturesque Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) in the historic center, offering an evening filled with musical variety, autumnal emotions, and regional atmosphere.
The Bürgerkapelle Tramin is the town band of Tramin and currently counts about 52 musicians. Since November 2011, the musical direction has been entrusted to Norbert Rabanser, a percussion professor at the Innsbruck Conservatory, while the association is presided over by Tizian Scarizuola. Rooted in the tradition of Austro-Hungarian marching music, the band possesses a vast concert and entertainment repertoire and represents a cornerstone of the town's cultural and community life.
Under the direction of maestro Norbert Rabanser, the Bürgerkapelle Tramin offers a broad and varied program designed for a diverse audience:
All this in an open-air setting, with notes drifting across the square while the scent of new wine fills the air during the peak harvest season.
The concert is part of the rich autumn season in Tramin, when the vineyards surrounding the village turn warm colors and the community celebrates the grape harvest. This is the time of Törggelen, the South Tyrolean custom of tasting new wine accompanied by traditional, hearty dishes. Tramin is the home of Gewürztraminer, the famous aromatic grape variety that takes its name from the village: the Herbstkonzert is therefore much more than a concert; it is a tribute to the oenological and farming identity of the region.
Organized by the Bürgerkapelle Tramin together with the Tramin Tourist Association, the concert is free of charge and is aimed at both local residents and the many visitors who travel the South Tyrolean Wine Road in autumn. An authentic opportunity to discover the South Tyrolean brass band tradition in a convivial and evocative setting.
The 2026 Herbstkonzert of the Bürgerkapelle Tramin will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) in Tramin an der Weinstraße, starting at 8:00 PM. Under the direction of Norbert Rabanser, the band will present a program ranging from original brass music to quality entertainment, including swing and jazz. The event, organized by the Bürgerkapelle Tramin with the Tramin Tourist Association, is free of charge. The detailed program of the pieces has not yet been published.
