The festival that unites wine and chocolate
The CiokoWine Fest is the food and wine event that brings the historic center of Alcamo, in the heart of the Trapani province, to life every March. Launched in 2023, the event showcases the meeting of two iconic Sicilian products: Alcamo DOC wine and Modica PGI chocolate, in a dialogue that blends tradition, culture, and innovation.
The twinning between Alcamo and Modica
The festival is not just a showcase of taste; it is also the story of a deep historical bond. In ancient times, Alcamo and Modica were part of a single feudal entity, the County of the Counts of Modica. This is why the festival highlights the twinning between the two cities, ideally reuniting their products of excellence in a journey of senses and flavors. It is no coincidence that one of the main venues of the event is the Castello dei Conti di Modica, a historic monument that dominates the center of Alcamo.
The festival venues
The CiokoWine Fest takes place in several locations in Alcamo's historic center, each with a specific function:
- Piazza Ciullo — the beating heart of the festival, home to the inauguration and stands;
- Piazza Mercato — a space dedicated to entertainment and pavilions;
- Castello dei Conti di Modica — the stage for signature show cooking;
- Collegio dei Gesuiti — home to the municipal library where reservation-only masterclasses are held.
A program for everyone
The festival formula alternates moments for enthusiasts with activities designed for families and children. Alongside masterclasses with sommeliers and Maître Chocolatiers and show cooking led by renowned chefs, the festival offers conferences dedicated to food and wine culture, educational workshops for schools, and recreational activities such as the CiokoLab, CiokoArt (live chocolate sculpting), the Cioko-game village, and the Cioko-mascotte. A competition between hospitality schools from the provinces of Trapani and Palermo is also planned.
A showcase for the region
Organized by the STS - Servizi Turistici Sicilia association with technical direction by Agave Spettacoli, the CiokoWine Fest is a free-admission event that promotes the tourism development of Alcamo and Western Sicily, enhancing wine, chocolate, and the identity of a territory rich in history.
CiokoWine Fest — edition 2026
The fourth edition of the CiokoWine Fest was held from March 19 to 22, 2026, in the historic center of Alcamo, in the province of Trapani, under the theme "the encounter becomes an experience." The event confirmed the formula that celebrates the dialogue between Alcamo DOC wine and Modica PGI chocolate, spread across Piazza Ciullo, the Castello dei Conti di Modica, and the Collegio dei Gesuiti.
The heart of the 2026 edition consisted of 6 masterclasses led by sommeliers and Maître Chocolatiers, and 8 show cooking sessions by prestigious chefs. There were also conferences such as "Oltre Stagione" and "Lex et Gustus," educational CiokoLab workshops with master chocolatier Davide Appendino, CiokoArt with live chocolate sculpting by artist Elisa Corallo, and the "Best CiokoWine Dish" competition between six hospitality schools from the provinces of Trapani and Palermo.

- 9:00 PM — Show cooking with Fabio Potenzano (face of "È sempre mezzogiorno")
Sunday, March 22
- 6:00 PM — Masterclass "Il Lucido di Alcamo - Catarratto"
- 7:00 PM — Show cooking with Peppe Giuffrè
- 8:00 PM — Masterclass "CiokoWine 4.0" (mixology focus)
- 9:00 PM — Show cooking with Santi Palazzolo
All show cooking sessions were directed by artistic director Peppe Giuffrè. The program also included conferences, CiokoLab, CiokoArt, and activities for families and schools.

How to get there
Alcamo is located in the province of Trapani, along the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway (Alcamo exit). By train, the Alcamo Diramazione station is connected to lines for Palermo and Trapani. From Palermo, it can be reached in about 50 minutes by car. The nearest airport is Palermo (Punta Raisi), about 40 km away.
Venues
The events take place in the historic center, between Piazza Ciullo, Piazza Mercato, the Castello dei Conti di Modica, and the Collegio dei Gesuiti, all within walking distance.
Admission and reservations
Admission to the event is free. Masterclasses at the Collegio dei Gesuiti require reservations and are subject to availability.
