A children's Christmas celebration in Piazza XX Settembre, Scisciano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When the festive lights turn on along the streets of Scisciano, the town's main square takes on a new look. Piazza XX Settembre, which also houses the Town Hall, is transformed into an enchanted village designed specifically for the little ones: colorful inflatables, games, and recreational activities fill the space in front of the municipal building, while families take advantage of the morning to meet up and exchange greetings. It is a simple, popular, and completely free event that the municipal administration dedicates to children during the most awaited time of the year.
The Christmas Village is not an isolated event; it is part of the broader Christmas program that the Municipality of Scisciano, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, organizes every December. Over the years, the same square has hosted concerts, Christmas markets, children's shows, meetings with Santa Claus, and the highly anticipated arrival of the Befana on January 6th, often as part of festivals like "Scisciano in Festa" or "The Culture of Christmas," also supported by the Metropolitan City's event programs. The village with its inflatables, however, is the moment most directly aimed at children: the time when the square fills with festive voices as early as the morning.
With just over six thousand inhabitants and an altitude of only 34 meters, Scisciano is a town in the Campanian plains located between Nola, Marigliano, and San Vitaliano, about thirty kilometers from Naples and a short distance from Mount Vesuvius. It is a small territory where community life is concentrated around the square and the parish of San Germano: for this very reason, an event like the Christmas Village, which has no tourist ambitions but gathers the entire town, carries a social weight far greater than its size.
In Campania, Christmas is a true institution, with nativity scenes, markets, and lights that attract visitors from all over Italy. Scisciano, however, chooses a small-scale, local formula: no massive installations, just a morning of outdoor play designed so that no child is left out. It is the type of initiative that rarely ends up in tourist guides, yet it perfectly captures how the small towns of the Neapolitan hinterland experience the holidays: in the square, together, without formality.
The last documented edition took place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM: initially scheduled for December 24, it was postponed by one day due to bad weather. For the 2026 edition, the Municipality has not yet released dates or a program. As is the case for most Christmas events in small towns, the announcement usually arrives between the end of November and the first days of December, on the official channels of the Municipality of Scisciano and the institution's social media pages. Those wishing to attend should check the "Events" section of the municipal website in the weeks leading up to the holidays.
The 2026 edition of the Christmas Village in Scisciano has not yet been officially announced. As of the update date of this page, the Municipality's website only reports the edition held on December 25, 2025, in Piazza XX Settembre.
If the initiative is repeated, one can expect the well-tested formula: the town's main square set up as an enchanted village, with inflatables, games, and recreational activities dedicated to children, with free admission and direct organization by the municipal administration as part of the Scisciano Christmas program.
To find out the final dates, times, and program, it is best to consult the "Events" section of the Scisciano Municipality website and the official social media pages in the weeks leading up to the holidays.
