About Il Bosco delle Zucche

Il Bosco... delle Zucche is an autumn Halloween-themed festival that transforms the Public Park on Via Papa Giovanni XXIII in Boscoreale, just outside Naples, into a true pumpkin village for three days. With creative workshops, children's entertainment, scarecrows, forest fairies, and a large food area, the event attracts thousands of families from across the Vesuvius area. Free admission and guaranteed fun for all ages in a magical, colorful setting.

A pumpkin village at the foot of Mount Vesuvius

Every autumn, the Public Park on Via Papa Giovanni XXIII, in the heart of Boscoreale, turns into a grand Halloween-themed pumpkin village. Il Bosco... delle Zucche is an event designed primarily for children and families, filling the municipal park for three days with colors, lights, autumn decorations, and activities for all ages. Launched in 2024, the event immediately won over the public, recording a record turnout from its very first edition with thousands of visitors arriving from all over the Vesuvius territory.

Workshops, entertainment, and forest magic

The program revolves around creative and educational workshops designed for the little ones: you can paint your own pumpkin, build a scarecrow, or grow a small plant to take home. There are also the famous finger knitting workshops and entertainment stations that keep children engaged throughout the day. Making the atmosphere even more enchanting are The Forest Fairies, present every day along the park's decorated paths, along with numerous live shows and entertainment.

A family-friendly Halloween

Unlike more intense horror-themed events, Il Bosco... delle Zucche offers a sweet and family-oriented take on Halloween, featuring costumes, games, and a fairytale atmosphere. One of the most anticipated moments is the best costume award, which involves both adults and children in a parade. Alongside the children's activities, a large food area with various stalls allows visitors to enjoy local specialties and street food until late in the evening, making the event a pleasant evening destination as well.

A festival for the Boscoreale community

Organized by the Municipality of Boscoreale, in the province of Naples and the heart of Campania, the event has quickly become one of the most popular autumn gatherings in the Vesuvius area. The choice of completely free admission and a program dedicated to families makes it a great opportunity for community building for local residents and neighboring towns between Vesuvius and the famous archaeological excavations of Boscoreale. Amidst carved pumpkins, fairies, scarecrows, and autumn flavors, the city park becomes the beating heart of local life for a weekend.

Il Bosco delle Zucche — edition 2026

Following the success of the first two editions, Il Bosco... delle Zucche is expected to return to Boscoreale in autumn 2026, during the usual period spanning Halloween and the first days of November. The event will once again transform the Public Park on Via Papa Giovanni XXIII into a pumpkin village dedicated to children and families. Official dates and program have not yet been announced.
