The non-competitive cycling tour through the Ombrone Valley, Farma Valley, and Upper Maremma
The Centochilometri della Granocchia is one of the most beloved non-competitive cycling tours in the province of Grosseto. Every year on April 25th, it draws hundreds of enthusiasts to Paganico, a village in the municipality of Civitella Paganico, Tuscany. Established in 2013, the event is organized by the A.S.D. Ciclistica Valdombrone in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Paganico, the Municipality of Civitella Paganico, and Uisp, a long-standing partner of the event.
The strength of the Centochilometri lies in its tracks, designed to accommodate cyclists of all levels, from road bikes to e-bikes:
The routes traverse the Ombrone Valley, the Farma Valley, and the Upper Maremma, touching fascinating locations such as the Tocchi Nature Reserve, the Petriolo thermal baths, and the villages of Civitella Marittima, Pari, Monticiano, Iesa, Torniella, and Roccastrada.
The Centochilometri della Granocchia is not a race, but a celebration of cycle tourism: the goal is to promote the Maremma on two wheels in a spirit of friendship and discovery. Along the routes, participants find refreshment stops, technical assistance, and a broom wagon service, while the day concludes with the essential pasta party at the Casa del Fiume and tastings of local products.
The event is part of the Tuscan Cycle Tourism Circuit and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany Tour, confirming its deep roots in the regional amateur scene. Edition after edition, the Granocchia has seen the number of participants grow to over 400, becoming one of the most anticipated dates on the Maremma spring calendar.
The 13th edition of the Centochilometri della Granocchia, held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, marked a new record with approximately 400 participants. The three routes (short 67 km, medium 90 km, long 120 km with 2,270 meters of elevation gain) traversed the Ombrone Valley, the Farma Valley, and the Upper Maremma on a sunny spring day.
On the 4 km timed section through the vineyards, the winners were Matia Burini (Unione Ciclistica Trasimeno) among the men, with 10'15", and Oriana Goretti (Mbm Le Querce) among the women, with 13'43". The largest team was Marevettamare with 23 athletes.
Between refreshment stops, local product tastings, and the final pasta party, the Ciclistica Valdombrone organization renewed its collaboration with local authorities and Uisp, defining the edition as "a great celebration of cycle tourism".
Paganico is located along the SS223 Grosseto-Siena road, with a dedicated exit. By train, the reference station is Grosseto; by car, the Paganico exit on the expressway is the most convenient.
