The autumn festival of the Pro Loco of Dazio, on the Costiera dei Cech
Dazio is a small municipality nestled on the sunny Costiera dei Cech, the Rhaetian slope of the lower Valtellina in the province of Sondrio, above Morbegno. When autumn arrives, the village renews its Castagnata dei Cech, a traditional festival organised by the Pro Loco of Dazio.
The absolute stars are the roasted chestnuts (caldarroste), accompanied by typical local products: the castagnata is the classic seasonal event to gather around the flavours of the mountains, amidst the aroma of roasted chestnuts and the warm, familiar atmosphere of village festivals (sagre).
The event is part of the rich associative life of the Costiera dei Cech, a territory known for its traditions โ from the Costiera Olympics to Vininfesta โ and for its strong link with viticulture and the products of Valtellina's autumn. The Castagnata dei Cech represents one of the moments that best tell the identity of this corner of the province of Sondrio.
For autumn 2026, the Pro Loco of Dazio will once again host the Castagnata dei Cech, a traditional festival dedicated to roasted chestnuts and local products. The event will take place, as usual, in October.
The precise date and details of the initiatives will be announced by the Pro Loco of Dazio on their official channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco of Dazio. The festival traditionally features:
