The Shrove Tuesday celebration in the heart of Cascina, featuring costumes, music, and a funfair
The Cascina Carnival is a popular festival that transforms the center of Cascina, in the province of Pisa, into a vibrant space of entertainment and fun on Shrove Tuesday. Organized by the Cascina Pro Loco in collaboration with local merchants and supported by the Municipality, the event is free and aimed primarily at families and children, who can enjoy an afternoon of dressing up, music, and games.
The heart of the celebration is Piazza dei Caduti, along Corso Giacomo Matteotti, the main artery of Cascina's historic center. The pedestrian zone and the town's typical arcades provide a natural backdrop for a widespread event that winds through squares and commercial streets, involving shops, bars, and local businesses.
The afternoon program, starting at 3:00 PM, offers a lively and colorful atmosphere designed for all ages:
More than just a grand parade of floats, the Cascina Carnival is a community festival with a familiar, local character, where the Pro Loco and merchants renew a tradition deeply felt by the area. The event represents a moment of social connection for the residents of the Municipality and neighboring towns, and it fits into the rich calendar of carnival events in Tuscany, a region that boasts a long tradition of popular festivals linked to the Carnival period.
The event is particularly suitable for families with children, who find a safe and free space in Piazza dei Caduti to celebrate. Adults can also enjoy the atmosphere of the center, with music, street food, and the typical joy of Shrove Tuesday in one of the most populous towns in the province of Pisa.
