The Carnival celebration for children and families in Piazza Umberto I
The Casandrino Carnival is the most colorful and cheerful winter event for children and families in this town in the province of Naples, in Campania. For one day, the heart of the town, Piazza Umberto I, turns into a fairytale space designed entirely for children, filled with masks, music, sweets, and entertainment.
The format is that of a grand public square festival: no stages for big names, but an atmosphere of shared joy that involves entire families. Children arrive in costume to be greeted by their favorite fairytale and cartoon characters, from Disney princes and princesses to the most beloved cartoon heroes. Entertainment is provided by volunteers, while face painters and balloon artists bring smiles to everyone throughout the day.
There is no shortage of typical Carnival treats: cotton candy, popcorn, and sweet delicacies from local merchants scent the square. The rhythm of the party is set by the P. Anfossi Marching Band, which accompanies the crowd's joy with its notes and creates that festive atmosphere that makes the Carnival a special moment for the community.
The highlight of the event is the awards ceremony for all the costumed children: a recognition designed to celebrate the imagination, effort, and creativity of every child, ensuring no one is left out of the fun.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Casandrino and relies on the presence of the Italian Red Cross – North Naples Committee for medical assistance, in addition to logistical support dedicated to participant safety. A family-friendly event where fun and care for children go hand in hand.
The Casandrino Carnival confirms the town's commitment to offering free and inclusive community gatherings capable of enlivening the square and strengthening the sense of community in the province of Naples. It is the ideal opportunity to experience a festive Sunday dedicated to the Campanian Carnival tradition.
