The Florentine steak festival in the heart of Casalguidi
The Casalguidi Steak Festival is one of the most cherished food and wine events in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany. Held annually between late May and early June in the village of Casalguidi, part of the municipality of Serravalle Pistoiese, it celebrates the undisputed king of Tuscan cuisine: the Florentine steak. The festival takes place in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the heart of the town, which comes alive for ten consecutive evenings with food stalls, outdoor dining tables, and music.
The absolute star is the grilled meat. The festival's famous set menu offers a generous 800-gram steak, accompanied by a side dish of your choice, water, and cover charge. Wine, strictly sourced from the local area, can be purchased at the dedicated stand. The charcoal grilling, managed by the organizing committee's volunteers, is the secret behind a simple, authentic dish that draws hundreds of food lovers every evening.
Beyond the great food, the Steak Festival offers evenings dedicated to entertainment. A stage is set up in the square for live music, featuring a rotation of dance orchestras and local bands. It is the perfect occasion to bring together families, friends, and visitors in a typically Tuscan popular festival atmosphere, defined by conviviality and tradition.
Although it is a relatively young festival, established in the 2000s, the event has become a fixture in the summer calendar of the Valdinievole and the Pistoia region. It is organized by the Casalguidi Fair Celebration Committee, under the patronage of the Municipality of Serravalle Pistoiese, and represents a landmark for those looking to savor authentic Tuscan cuisine in a welcoming and genuine setting.
Casalguidi is conveniently located between Pistoia and the Florence area, easily accessible by car, train, and bus, making the Steak Festival an ideal destination for an evening of taste in the province of Pistoia.
For the 2026 edition, the Casalguidi Steak Festival confirmed its winning formula: ten consecutive evenings in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, from May 29 to June 7, with food stalls open every evening starting at 7:00 PM.
The set menu featured the famous 800-gram charcoal-grilled steak, with a side dish of choice, water, and cover charge, while wines from the Pistoia region were available at the dedicated stand. The evenings were accompanied by traditional live music in the square, featuring dance orchestras and local bands.
