The music that rises to the mountains

Carniarmonie is one of the most important music festivals in Friuli Venezia Giulia and one of the longest-running in the Alpine region. For over thirty years, during the summer months, it has brought great music to the highlands: concerts are held in Carnia, Valcanale, and Canal del Ferro, across a network of over twenty municipalities with Tolmezzo as the main hub. Organized by the Luigi Bon Foundation, the festival has made its widespread presence throughout the territory its distinctive feature: music reaches mountain churches, village squares, theaters, and mountain huts, transforming each concert into an experience that is both listening and landscape discovery.

A program that spans genres

Carniarmonie's programming is notoriously broad and ambitious. Alongside the great symphonic and chamber repertoire, there is space for jazz, operetta, sacred music, contemporary music, and special projects such as tableaux vivants or concert performances. Each year, the festival hosts internationally renowned orchestras, ensembles, and soloists, often creating editions focused on a specific geographical area or theme. The FVG Orchestra, the regional symphony institution, is a recurring presence, as are cross-border collaborations with organizations from Slovenia and Austria, in a true spirit of the Euroregion.

The municipalities of Carnia take center stage

Carniarmonie's strength lies in its deep roots. Concerts take place in dozens of locations—from Tolmezzo to Sauris, from Forni Avoltri to Arta Terme, from Paluzza to Tarvisio—highlighting small mountain villages and their symbolic sites. The festival thus also serves as an extraordinary itinerary through Alpine villages, historic buildings, and the landscapes of the Friulian Dolomites and the Carnic Alps, an invitation to experience the Friulian mountains through culture.
