A month of free cultural events across the courtyards, squares, and historic palaces of Carmagnola
The Carmagnola Culture Month is the major summer festival that the Municipality of Carmagnola, in the Province of Turin and the heart of Piedmont, dedicates to culture in all its forms every year. For over four weeks, the city of peppers opens its courtyards, squares, historic palaces, museums, and churches to a dense calendar of events: literature, theater, music, visual arts, scientific conferences, and school workshops. The common thread is accessibility: all events have free admission.
The beating heart of the event is the Municipal Castle Courtyard, which hosts most of the evening performances. Alongside it, the program unfolds through the Cascina Vigna Park, the Ancient Bastions, the Public Library, the Civic Naval Museum, Casa Cavassa, the Piazza Italia exhibition hall, and numerous churches and squares in the historic center. In case of rain, the events in the Castle Courtyard are moved to the Ancient Bastions Hall.
The Culture Month brings together several consolidated events under a single banner:
The programming ranges from classic comedies by the Compagnia Torino Spettacoli to tribute concerts dedicated to the greats of Italian music, from school theatrical performances to naturalistic conferences by Pro Natura Carmagnola. There is no shortage of local religious traditions, such as the Corpus Domini procession, the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua with the blessing of the bread, and the celebrations of Saint John the Baptist, the city's patron saint.
The Culture Month is also an opportunity for schools, comprehensive institutes, Pro Loco, Lions Clubs, and the many associations of Carmagnola to present their projects, from murals to creative workshops, from old-fashioned games to the Forum of Associations. This is how the festival becomes a mirror of an entire community telling its story through culture.
The pop-literary festival Letti di Notte returns from June 9 to 13, 2026, at the Cascina Vigna Park Courtyard, always at 9:00 PM, with five evenings of great guests: Concita De Gregorio ("La Cura"), Viola Ardone ("Tanta ancora vita"), Flavio Marino ("Tutto il mondo del pane"), Enzo Iacchetti ("25 minuti di felicità "), and Felicia Kingsley ("Mezzanotte a Parigi"). The Il libro del mercoledì cycle also continues in the Castle Courtyard, with Paolo Kessisoglu (June 3), Maurizio Ferrini (June 17), and Alessandro Beloli (June 24).
The program features the Imbroglione by the Compagnia Torino Spettacoli (June 5), the Bald Rock concert by the Baldessano Roccati Institute (June 6), the "Senza fine" tributes to Ornella Vanoni (June 18), the Solstice Concert with the Euron Ensemble (June 21), and "Lucio & Lucio" dedicated to Battisti and Dalla (June 28). Among the exhibitions: Mineral Carmagnola and the XXVII Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibition (June 13-14) and the National Painting Exhibition of Marina (June 6-14).
2026 Program (selection, free admission):
Carmagnola is located about 30 km south of Turin, along the Turin-Savona state road and railway line. By train, the Carmagnola station is served by regional connections from Turin Porta Nuova. By car, it can be reached via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Carmagnola exit).
Evening events are held mainly in the Municipal Castle Courtyard, in the historic center. Other venues: Cascina Vigna Park, Ancient Bastions, Public Library, Civic Naval Museum (Piazza Mazzini 1), Casa Cavassa, and the Piazza Italia exhibition hall.
