The village masquerade festival at the gateway to the Valli di Lanzo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Cafasse Carnival is the masquerade celebration that colors the streets of Cafasse every year, a small town of about 3,500 inhabitants located at the gateway to the Valli di Lanzo, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. Far from the grand historical carnivals like the one in Ivrea, the Cafasse Carnival preserves the authentic spirit of a community gathering: an afternoon of shared joy where the village comes together in the square to welcome the arrival of spring.
The heart of the event is the costume parade that winds through the town center. Children, teenagers, and families march in costume, often following a theme chosen each year: in the 2025 edition, for example, a large group enlivened the procession with "Jurassic Park"-style dinosaur costumes. The participants are accompanied by the Nuova Pro Loco Cafasse 3.0, which manages the organization and leads the procession to its grand finale.
The parade concludes in Piazza Magnoni, where the great confetti battle takes place and where children can enjoy bouncy castles, games, and entertainment that continue until the evening. The Pro Loco sets up a refreshment point along the route, offering traditional Piedmontese carnival treats like bugie and fritters. It is a family-friendly, accessible, and free event in which the entire Cafasse community participates with enthusiasm.
The Carnival is one of the most cherished moments in the Cafasse event calendar, bringing together associations, volunteers, and residents from the various hamlets of the municipality. The date follows the movable carnival calendar, typically featuring a Sunday afternoon dedicated to the parade and the party in the square. For those visiting the Valli di Lanzo in winter, it is a simple and genuine opportunity to discover a folk tradition still deeply felt by the locals.
In 2026, the Cafasse Carnival once again brought families and children to the square for the traditional masquerade party, scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2026. The parade crossed the town center with the usual temporary closure of the roads involved in the procession. For details of the full program, please refer to the official channels of the Municipality of Cafasse and the Nuova Pro Loco Cafasse 3.0.
Cafasse is located at the entrance to the Valli di Lanzo, about 30 km northwest of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the SP1 of the Valle di Lanzo; by train, the Turin–Ceres line stops at the Cafasse–Monasterolo station. Bus line 226 (Turin–Varisella) serves the town (during the Carnival, route changes may occur due to temporary road closures for the parade).
The event is free and family-friendly. Refreshment point provided by the Nuova Pro Loco Cafasse 3.0. For updated dates and times, please check the official channels of the Municipality of Cafasse and the Pro Loco.
