Bucine Trout Festival

A spring tradition in the Aretine Valdarno

The Bucine Trout Festival is one of the most anticipated spring events in the municipality of Bucine, in the province of Arezzo, in the heart of Tuscany. Born from the initiative of the Lenza Bucinese Sport Fishing Club — an association active since 1965 — the festival is part of the town's broader Spring Festival and has been attracting visitors from all over the Valdarno and neighboring provinces for decades.

The heart of the event is Piazza del Campo Vecchio, in the town center, which fills up for three days with food stands, outdoor tables, music, and stalls. The well-established formula combines a passion for sport fishing — the historical root of the event — with the pleasure of good Tuscan food and socializing.

Grilled trout, the queen of the festival

The specialty that gives the festival its name is grilled trout, cooked and served at the food stands managed by the volunteers of Lenza Bucinese. Alongside the signature dish, the menu offers the flavors of local Valdarno cuisine, with a special focus on the authenticity of the products. The stands generally open in the evening, while on Sunday, lunch is also available with a fixed-price menu (reservations recommended).

Music, entertainment, and fun for everyone

The festival evenings are not just about good food: every day, starting in the late afternoon, aperitifs with craft beers and cocktails kick off, followed by musical entertainment and DJ sets that enliven the square until late at night. For families and children, there is a funfair, while local associations such as AVIS and C.A.L.C.I.T. Valdarno are present with their charity stands.

The "Pierin Pescatore" fishing competition

Recalling the sporting origins of the event is the historic Pierin Pescatore Competition, dedicated to children and organized on Sunday afternoon at the nearby Lake Pisciaceto. An unmissable moment that connects new generations to the tradition of sport fishing cultivated by Lenza Bucinese since the sixties.

Bucine and the Aretine Valdarno

Bucine rises among the hills of the Upper Valdarno, along the Val d'Ambra, in an area rich in villages, parish churches, and agricultural landscapes. Participating in the Trout Festival is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the province of Arezzo, far from the major tourist circuits but deeply linked to its food, wine, and community traditions.
