Sixty years of theatre under the stars

The Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival is one of the oldest and most beloved open-air theatre events in Italy. Founded in 1967, in 2026 it celebrates its 60th edition, confirming itself as a national benchmark for summer drama. The festival takes place in the picturesque Piazza Sant'Agostino, in the medieval village of Verezzi, a hillside hamlet of Borgio Verezzi, in the province of Savona.

An unrepeatable natural setting

What makes the festival unique is its stage: the small stone square of the village, with ancient houses acting as natural backdrops and the starry sky overhead. In this intimate and evocative atmosphere, generations of great Italian actors have graced the stage, offering audiences memorable productions. The festival is renowned for the quality of its programme, which alternates classics, new works, and productions created specifically for Verezzi.

In&Out and the Gassman Theatre

Alongside the main summer programme, the festival features the In&Out – Contemporary Myths series, which anticipates the season with performances also hosted at the Gassman Theatre. This section provides space for contemporary languages and new productions, expanding the offering and engaging with the grand theatre of the main square.
