The Contaminazioni Liriche Festival is the summer opera season in Savona, produced by the Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa, one of Liguria's historic opera institutions. The venue is the spectacular Fortezza del Priamar, whose walls overlooking the sea provide a unique setting for the great operas in the repertoire.

Contaminazioni Liriche — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Contaminazioni Liriche Festival celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the event. The opening, on June 27th at the Fortezza del Priamar, features Verdi's Il Trovatore (a co-production of five traditional theatres). This is followed by Madama Butterfly (July 10th and 12th, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti) and Verdi's Nabucco. In the autumn, the season continues with Rigoletto at the Teatro Chiabrera. Produced by the Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa of Savona.
