Three evenings of Salento flavors in the Villa Comunale of Borgagne
The Borgagne Fruit and Vegetable Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Melendugno, in the heart of Salento in the province of Lecce. Every year, between the end of July and the beginning of August, the Villa Comunale of Borgagne — a small village overlooking the hinterland of the Salento Adriatic coast — welcomes thousands of visitors drawn by the scent of the specialties prepared by hand by the members of the Pro Loco.
As the name suggests, the festival was created to promote the produce of the gardens and the land of this part of Salento: eggplants, tomatoes, seasonal vegetables, and freshly picked fruit become the stars of an entirely homemade menu. Now in its twenty-fifth edition, the event is a well-established tradition in the summer calendar of the Municipality of Melendugno and is part of the historical events of the BluFestival, the program of free appointments that enlivens the marinas and hamlets of Melendugno throughout the summer.
The true heart of the festival is its village cuisine. Among the food stalls set up in the Villa Comunale, you can taste:
The Fruit and Vegetable Festival is not just about gastronomy: between one dish and another, the evenings are marked by folk music, folk dance groups, and the Salento pizzica, the essential soundtrack of every village festival in Salento. There are also displays of lace and embroidery that showcase local craftsmanship, in a convivial atmosphere that involves residents and tourists until late at night.
Together with other traditional local events such as the Sagra Te lu Purpu and Le Vie del Miele, the Fruit and Vegetable Festival helps make Melendugno a destination capable of attracting thousands of visitors every summer. It is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic Salento, far from the crowds of the most famous beaches, amidst genuine flavors, village hospitality, and the rural traditions of Borgagne.
The Borgagne Fruit and Vegetable Festival will be held from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the Villa Comunale of the hamlet, starting around 9:00 PM with free admission. The event is part of the historical program of the BluFestival 2026, the rich calendar of over 90 free events that enliven Melendugno and its marinas during the Salento summer.
Again this year, the food stalls managed by the Pro Loco will offer the best of Borgagne's rural cuisine, from eggplant meatballs to Borgagne-style focaccia, from vegetable pasta to grilled meat, accompanied by seasonal fruit and local wine.
The festival spans three evenings (July 31, August 1 and 2, 2026) with stalls opening around 9:00 PM in the Villa Comunale of Borgagne.
Details of the musical groups and evening shows for the 2026 edition will be released by the Pro Loco and on the Municipality of Melendugno's channels in the days preceding the event.

By car: from Lecce, you can reach Borgagne in about 30 minutes along the SP366 towards the Salento Adriatic coast. The marinas of Melendugno (Torre dell'Orso, San Foca, Roca) are just a few kilometers away. The reference train station is Lecce, then continue by car or bus.
The evenings begin around 9:00 PM. Admission to the event is free; tastings at the food stalls are paid, with affordable prices.
Arrive early to avoid queues at the stalls on peak nights. Bring cash for tastings and take advantage of the proximity to the beaches for a day at the sea followed by the evening festival.
