About Blütenhöfefest

The Blütenhöfefest, or Blossoming Farm Festival, is the highlight of spring in the Lana area of South Tyrol. For one full day, historic farms and manor houses in Lana, Foiana, and Cermes/Tscherms open their doors to visitors. Wander from farm to farm—either on foot along marked trails or via a free shuttle service—to discover rural life, taste local apples, asparagus, cheeses, and wines, and soak in the atmosphere of the Burgraviato region in full bloom.

A day from farm to farm in the heart of the Burgraviato

The Blütenhöfefest, known in English as the Blossoming Farm Festival, is one of South Tyrol's most beloved spring events. It takes place in the Lana tourist area, which includes the municipalities of Lana, Foiana (Völlan), and Cermes/Tscherms, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. For an entire Sunday in April, the area's historic farms and ancient manor houses open their doors and courtyards to the public, offering a rare glimpse into mountain farm life just as the apple orchards reach peak bloom.

A journey through historic farms and manor houses

The charm of the festival lies in wandering from farm to farm: eleven traditional farms spread across Lana, Foiana, and Cermes/Tscherms participate in the event, each with its own welcoming program. Visitors can reach them on foot by following well-marked hiking trails that wind through flowering orchards and vineyards, or take it easy by using the free shuttle buses connecting the various locations. In Cermes/Tscherms, you will find some of the most striking spots, such as the Kränzelhof with its gardens and labyrinth, alongside other ancient farmsteads that tell centuries of local agricultural history.

Local flavors and traditions

Each farm offers its own specialties: sample apples—the undisputed symbol of the Lana basin and the entire Burgraviato—alongside spring asparagus, alpine cheeses, cured meats, homemade pastries, juices, spirits, and wines produced in the surrounding vineyards. The day is also filled with music, guided tours, workshops, and activities designed for families and children, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages. The event is the perfect gateway to discovering South Tyrolean rural culture, where tradition, hospitality, and landscape stewardship have been intertwined for generations.

Part of the "Lana in Bloom" series

The Blütenhöfefest is the flagship event of the broader "Lana in Bloom" (Lana blüht) series, which brings Lana and its neighboring towns to life throughout April with events centered on spring, apple blossom season, and local food and wine. The event takes place rain or shine and is organized by the Lana and Surrounding Areas Tourist Board.
