About Weihnachts RENDEZVOUS
An intimate Christmas market in a 14th-century farm
The Weihnachts RENDEZVOUS is the artisan Christmas market that the Runstnerhof Café hosts every autumn in Gargazzone/Gargazon, a municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The Runstnerhof farm, with documented origins dating back to 1360, is located at the entrance to the village in the heart of the Adige Valley, halfway between Bolzano and Merano. The Zischg family, Carmen and Georg, has transformed the ancient farm into an organic enterprise, recognized as a model farm by Bioland South Tyrol.
A cozy, artisan atmosphere
Unlike the large Christmas markets in South Tyrolean cities, the Weihnachts RENDEZVOUS focuses on a small, warm, and authentic atmosphere. In the courtyard and throughout the farm, you will find stalls featuring selected artisans with handmade creations—perfect for gift ideas—all immersed in the lights and spirit of the South Tyrolean Advent.
What to eat
The gastronomic side reflects the typical mountain farming tradition, featuring mostly organic, zero-kilometer products from the farm:
- Wood-fired pizza (Holzofenpizza)
- Hot soups to warm you up on autumn days
- Roasted chestnuts and Apfelkiachlan (traditional South Tyrolean apple fritters)
Music, workshops, and solidarity
The program goes beyond the stalls and the kitchen: past editions have featured live music, mini embroidery workshops, children's book presentations, and unique attractions like live iris photography. The initiative also has a charitable side, with a fundraiser supporting the South Tyrolean Farmers' Emergency Fund (Bäuerlicher Notstandsfonds).
A recurring event at the Runstnerhof
The Weihnachts RENDEZVOUS is one of the recurring events organized by the Runstnerhof Café throughout the year. About once a month, the café hosts evening events ranging from fashion shows and cabaret to candlelight dinners and musical aperitifs. The Christmas market is its most anticipated autumn edition, with free admission and suitable for the whole family.

The 2026 edition of the Weihnachts RENDEZVOUS at the Runstnerhof Café in Gargazzone/Gargazon does not yet have official dates. In previous editions, the market took place in mid-November over three days, with artisan stalls, the farm's kitchen (wood-fired pizza, soups, chestnuts, Apfelkiachlan), and a small program including live music and workshops.
