About BiellaDanza

BiellaDanza is the annual summer festival that transforms the center of Biella into a vast open-air stage. Featuring urban performances, free evening shows in Piazza Duomo, and training workshops for all ages, this event organized by ART'è DANZA ASD weaves together public space, education, and community engagement. A widespread project celebrating twenty years of passion for dance in the heart of Piedmont.

BiellaDanza: the city that dances

BiellaDanza is one of the most beloved and anticipated events of the Biella summer. For one week, from June 27 to July 4, 2026, the streets and squares of the center of Biella turn into an urban stage where dance meets the city, its residents, and visitors. The festival, part of the Biella Estate program, is organized by the ART'è DANZA ASD association and celebrates twenty years of performances, training, and passion in 2026.

A widespread project in the heart of Piedmont

More than just a festival, BiellaDanza is a widespread project that intertwines urban space, training, performances, and community participation. The idea is to take dance out of theaters and into the streets, giving the city in northern Piedmont a vibrant and shared identity. The artistic direction is led by Claudia Squintone, supported by a team of local teachers and collaborators.

The Inauguration: In Urbana

The opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 5:30 PM with In Urbana, a large collective performance that brings local dance schools from the city center to Piazza De Agostini, next to the Civic Library. It is the moment when dance literally invades the city, involving the public in an animated journey of movement and music.

Evening shows in Piazza Duomo

The heart of the festival consists of free evening shows, hosted in Piazza Duomo at 9:15 PM:

  • June 30 – Talenti in luce: an evening dedicated to young local dancers.
  • July 1 – Transizioni: featuring the DAM, Adriana Cava, and Art'è Danza companies.
  • July 2 – Swing: radici e riflessi: with the Crazy Swing Hornet.
  • July 4 – Giovani in scena: the final show featuring choreography developed during the workshops, a celebration that brings together students, families, and the city.

Training workshops

From June 28 to July 4, the Opificiodellarte (Via De Agostini 7) hosts dance workshops with courses for children, teenagers, and adults. The faculty includes national and international names such as Giuseppe Della Monica, Antonio Aguila, Attila Rónai, Sonia De Cillis, Sabrina Colombo, and Luisella Cappa Verzone, offering classes in classical, modern, and contemporary dance.

Exhibitions and side events

Alongside the performances, the festival offers side events: the photo exhibition Una città che danza and the exhibition Il gesto e l'istante, curated by the Fotoclub Biella, opening on Sunday, June 28 at 6:00 PM at the Opificiodellarte. A discount bracelet is also available at participating shops in the center, highlighting the bond between the event and the local fabric of the Biella province.
