Bernezzo Biodiversity

A celebration of nature in the heart of Bernezzo

Bernezzo Biodiversity is an event promoted by the FAI Saluzzo Delegation to celebrate World Biodiversity Day in the town of Bernezzo, in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. For one full day, Piazza Martiri della Libertà, in front of the Multipurpose Hall, transforms into a large open-air laboratory dedicated to discovering the natural richness of the area, thanks to the collaboration between local institutions, associations, and organizations.

The Biodiversity Trail

The highlight of the event is the guided walk along the Bernezzo Biodiversity Trail, led by professional nature guides. The route is a loop of approximately 2.5 km starting and ending in the square. It is classified as T1 difficulty, with a gentle elevation gain and a duration of about one hour. Groups are limited in size and depart at various times throughout the day: it is a perfect opportunity to learn how to read the landscape, identify plant and animal species, and understand why protecting natural environments is so vital.

Activities for all ages

A rich program of activities, mostly free and family-friendly, takes place around the square:

• the inflatable planetarium with 360° projections dedicated to nocturnal life and light pollution;
• educational workshops by the Wild Animal Recovery Center (CRAS) of Bernezzo;
• beekeeping demonstrations with honey tasting;
• wood carving and sculpting workshops;
• a photography exhibition dedicated to the local nature;
• shows, animated fairy tales, and activities for children.

A commitment to the environment

Bernezzo Biodiversity is more than just a festival; it is a moment of awareness-raising that is part of the national #FAIbiodiversità campaign. The contribution requested for guided tours is entirely donated to the projects of the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano (National Trust for Italy) to support the care and enhancement of our natural and landscape heritage. A day to enjoy outdoors with the family, rediscovering the value of the biodiversity that surrounds us.
