A tradition with the scent of Monferrato
The Bergamasco Regional Truffle Fair is one of the most anticipated autumn events in the Alessandria area. Every year, at the beginning of October, the village of Bergamasco — a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, nestled in the hills of the Lower Monferrato — opens its streets to a grand celebration dedicated to the king of the autumn table: the truffle, affectionately called trifola here.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Bergamasco with the support of the local municipality, the event has grown with each edition to become a landmark for food and wine lovers across the region. It is no coincidence that it carries the title "regional": both the prized white truffle and the more rustic black truffle are celebrated here during a two-day event that blends taste, rural tradition, and conviviality.
What to expect at the fair
The heart of the festival is the Truffle Market, where trifolau (truffle hunters) and local producers display their treasures under glass, ready to be sniffed, evaluated, and purchased. Surrounding the truffle market is a large commercial fair featuring around a hundred stalls, including food vendors, agricultural producers, and artisans.
- Truffle dinners on Saturday evening, with menus featuring black truffle in the square and white truffle at local association venues;
- Awards for the best truffles showcased by the hunters;
- Truffle dog trials and demonstrations, the true stars of the harvest;
- The Truffle Walk, a food and wine stroll through the hills;
- Monferrato wine tastings, musical entertainment, and children's activities.
A village to discover
Visiting the fair is also an opportunity to discover Bergamasco, an authentic jewel of the Monferrato area, with its landscape of vineyards, woods, and genuine cuisine. The event attracts thousands of visitors every year, drawn by the quality of the products and the authentic atmosphere of a village festival that has managed to preserve its popular soul.
Bergamasco Truffle Fair — edition 2026
La 28ª Fiera Regionale del Tartufo di Bergamasco è confermata per domenica 11 ottobre 2026 tra le vie del centro del borgo alessandrino, con un centinaio di posteggi riservati a operatori del settore alimentare, produttori agricoli e artigiani. Come da tradizione, la vigilia del sabato sarà dedicata alle cene del tartufo.
Il programma dettagliato dell'edizione 2026, con orari, gare e ospiti, sarà annunciato dalla Pro Loco di Bergamasco nelle settimane precedenti la manifestazione. La struttura della fiera ricalca quella delle edizioni storiche: mostra mercato delle trifole, premiazione dei migliori tartufi, gare con i cani da tartufo, degustazioni e intrattenimento.

Il programma dettagliato della 28ª edizione sarà pubblicato dalla Pro Loco di Bergamasco nelle settimane che precedono la fiera. In base alle edizioni precedenti, la manifestazione si articola così:
Sabato — vigilia
- Sera — Cena a base di tartufo nero in Piazza della Repubblica;
- Sera — Cena del tartufo bianco presso le sedi delle associazioni del paese.
Domenica — giornata della fiera
- Mattino — Apertura delle bancarelle enogastronomiche e della Mostra Mercato delle trifole;
- Mattino — Camminata del Tartufo tra le colline;
- Mezzogiorno — Premiazione dei migliori tartufi;
- Pomeriggio — Iscrizioni e gara simulata con i cani da tartufo, degustazioni di vini e spettacoli;
- Tutto il giorno — Animazioni per i bambini, esposizioni di trattori e mezzi d'epoca.

Practical information — Bergamasco Truffle Fair
When
The fair traditionally takes place on the second weekend of October, with truffle dinners on Saturday evening and the main market day on Sunday.
Where
Bergamasco (AL), throughout the historic center and Piazza della Repubblica. The village is located in the Lower Monferrato, a short distance from Alessandria and Asti.
How to get there
By car: from the A26 motorway, take the Alessandria Ovest or Casale Monferrato exits, then follow provincial roads towards Bergamasco. During the fair, parking areas are set up near the center.
Costs and reservations
