The widespread festival of contemporary art, music, and community in Rittana
In the heart of the Stura Valley, in the province of Cuneo, the small municipality of Rittana transforms for a day into a vibrant hub of contemporary art, music, and community thanks to "Beauty for New Visions", also known as the Art Festival. This widespread festival brings the village's streets, cultural spaces, and symbolic landmarks to life, proving that even a village of just a few hundred inhabitants can become an authentic creative laboratory.
The event is an expression of MUDRI - Widespread Museum of Rittana, the cultural project that has been working creatively in the Piedmontese village for years. The heart of the initiative is the network of village spaces—from the Civic and Cultural Center to the former rectory—which house temporary exhibitions and the public collection of the Rittana Art Gallery, consisting of dozens of works linked by the famous "Venti per Venti" (Twenty by Twenty) centimeter format. These works do not stay confined within four walls: they are distributed along the streets and corners of the village, inviting visitors on a walk that is both an aesthetic experience and a journey of territorial discovery.
The day combines three souls: contemporary art, with exhibitions and installations by artists of national and international renown; music, with a high-profile concert hosted in the village's sacred spaces; and community, with the convivial ritual of an aperitif and polenta shared in the street. It is precisely this blend that makes the event special: not an event imposed from above, but a participatory festival built together with the residents.
Situated on the slopes rising toward the historic Borgata Paraloup, a symbolic site of the Piedmontese Resistance, Rittana is part of a territory that has long bet on culture as an engine for mountain rebirth. The Art Festival is part of a broader cultural season that offers conferences, exhibitions, and new permanent works throughout the year, helping to make this corner of the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont, a surprising destination for contemporary art lovers.
The 2026 edition of "Beauty for New Visions" brought the village of Rittana to life on Saturday, June 13, with widespread exhibitions, installations, a classical music concert, and the moments of conviviality that characterize the event. The highlight was the inauguration of Nicola Bolla's major solo exhibition at the Civic and Cultural Center, accompanied by other displays and installations located throughout the village.
The Bar Andata e Ritorno and the Bistrò del Rio remained open throughout the day.
The inauguration of the solo exhibition by Nicola Bolla, an artist invited twice to the Venice Biennale (1995 and 2009), and the Voxonus Quartet concert dedicated to Bruni, Cambini, and the young Mozart were the highlights of the day.
Rittana can be reached by car by traveling up the lower Stura Valley from Borgo San Dalmazzo (A33 Cuneo motorway exit). The nearest train station is in Cuneo, from which you can continue by car. The village is located on a hillside: comfortable shoes are recommended for visiting the works distributed throughout the town.
The reference point is the Civic and Cultural Center at Via Roma 6, the main venue for the exhibitions. Other events take place along the village streets and at the Confraternity of the Immaculate.
Access to exhibitions and installations is free. For the aperitif and the community polenta lunch, places are limited and booking is required by calling +39 349 599 6077. For visits to the main exhibition by appointment: +39 335 8386669.
The Bar Andata e Ritorno and the Bistrò del Rio are open during the day for breaks and refreshments.
