Two days immersed in the aromas of the Hooked Black Truffle in the Monti Dauni
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
«Autumn Flavours – Hooked Black Truffle Festival» is the food and wine event that brings the aroma and taste of the Tuber Uncinatum—the hooked black truffle that matures in the woods of the Monti Dauni—to Roseto Valfortore, a small town in the Province of Foggia listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Created as an event dedicated to one of the lesser-known yet most precious treasures of this corner of Puglia, the festival combines nature, flavours, culture, and peasant tradition over a single weekend.
The Tuber Uncinatum, or hooked black truffle, is an autumn truffle that grows wild in the hilly woods of the Daunian sub-Apennines. In Roseto Valfortore, harvesting it is an ancient ritual linked to the work of truffle hunters and their dogs, representing a resource that showcases the pristine environment of the territory and boosts the local economy. The festival was created specifically to introduce this excellence to the general public through in-depth discussions, woodland experiences, and tastings.
The days of «Autumn Flavours» alternate between cultural appointments and culinary delights: photography exhibitions set up in the village's historic spaces, round tables with experts, researchers, and administrators, mycological excursions in search of truffles on the mountains surrounding the town, and storytelling dinners with rustic tastings accompanied by local wines. All this is immersed in the atmosphere of the historic centre of Roseto Valfortore, with its stone houses, cobbled alleys, and carved portals that make it one of the most evocative villages in the Daunia region.
Participating in «Autumn Flavours» means discovering an authentic and welcoming village in the Monti Dauni during the most beautiful time of the year, when the woods are painted in autumn colours and the truffle scents the village kitchens. It is an opportunity for those who love slow tourism, nature, and good food, far from the most crowded circuits and in close contact with the community of Roseto Valfortore, in the Province of Foggia. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the festival was established in 2025 and may return during the autumn season.
The 2026 edition of «Autumn Flavours» in Roseto Valfortore, in the Province of Foggia, has not yet been confirmed: dates and the programme are not currently published. The event, dedicated to the Hooked Black Truffle of the Monti Dauni, was established in 2025 as an inaugural event and may be repeated during the autumn season. This page will be updated as soon as the Municipality of Roseto Valfortore and the organisers release official information regarding the potential 2026 edition.
The event is held in the historic centre of Roseto Valfortore (Postal Code 71039), in the Province of Foggia, with events taking place in various locations throughout the village, including the former Church of San Rocco, Piazza Bartolomeo III di Capua, and local hospitality venues.
Roseto Valfortore can be reached by car from the A16 motorway (exits towards Monti Dauni) or from the State Road 17, nestled in the hills on the border between Puglia, Campania, and Molise. A car is recommended given the hilly location of the village.
Experiences with limited capacity, such as the storytelling dinner and the rustic tasting, require booking by phone. The photography exhibition and mycological excursion are free to attend.
