Marco Paolini on stage in La Morra

The Attraverso Festival, the itinerant festival that traverses the lands of the Langhe, Roero, Monferrato, and the Piedmontese Apennines every summer, makes a stop in La Morra, in the province of Cuneo, for one of the most anticipated events on its calendar. On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the evocative Belvedere San Francesco, Marco Paolini presents 'Bestiario idrico', his latest theatrical performance.

A civil narrative on water

'Bestiario idrico' is a powerful and urgent show that weaves together memory, ecology, history, and the future. Paolini guides the audience on a poetic and civic journey through Italy's hydraulic landscape—rivers, dams, canals, pumps, floodplains, and works that are often invisible yet essential—where water becomes a metaphor for change and the fragility of ecosystems. The show is written by Marco Paolini with Giulio Boccaletti, with dramaturgical collaboration from Marta Dalla Via, Diego Dalla Via, and Michela Signori; performing alongside Paolini is the singer and musician Patrizia Laquidara.

The Belvedere San Francesco

The evening takes place outdoors at the Belvedere San Francesco in La Morra, one of the most famous viewpoints in the Langhe, overlooking the sea of vineyards that has made the village the ideal capital of Barolo. It is a setting that naturally engages with the theme of the show: the landscape, its care, and its balance.

Inside the Attraverso Festival

The La Morra event is part of the 11th edition of the Attraverso Festival (from July 13 to September 18, 2026), which features over forty events in nearly thirty municipalities across the provinces of Cuneo, Asti, and Alessandria. The festival, led by artistic directors Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico and organized by the Associazione Culturale Hiroshima Mon Amour ETS together with Produzioni Fuorivia, blends theater, music, meetings, and words in the villages, castles, and viewpoints of the UNESCO World Heritage lands of southern Piedmont.

Why it's worth it

  • One of the most important storytellers of Italian civil theater in one of the most beautiful settings in the Langhe.
  • A timely theme—water and the fragility of our relationship with the land—told with Paolini's unmistakable voice.
  • Live music by Patrizia Laquidara to complete the evening.
  • The opportunity to discover La Morra and the Barolo landscape at sunset.
