The closing night of the street art festival in the heart of the village of Tirolo
Asfaltart is the most important International Street Art Festival in South Tyrol. Conceived and organized by the Asfaltart Association, it transforms the historic center of Merano into a massive open-air stage every June, featuring international troupes of jugglers, clowns, acrobats, fire-eaters, tightrope walkers, puppeteers, and musicians. Following the heart of the event in Merano, the festival offers a closing night in the center of the village of Tirolo (Tirol), a small municipality in the Province of Bolzano that overlooks the Merano basin and is famous for the castle of the same name, Castel Tirolo.
The Tirolo leg is designed as an intimate and festive moment: artists are spread across various points in the village—the event park, the square in front of the tourist office, and the church square—allowing the public to stroll from one show to the next in the mild air of early summer evenings. Juggling acts, giant soap bubbles, comedy theater, live music, and acrobatic performances follow one another for a couple of hours, engaging both adults and children in the classic atmosphere of traditional street performance.
As with all Asfaltart events, admission is free: the shows take place in public spaces, and the audience is encouraged to arrive early and show their appreciation for the artists with a voluntary contribution, following the traditional hat-passing spirit that has always accompanied street art. In case of bad weather, the evening may be moved to indoor spaces in the village, such as the Culture House.
Attending Asfaltart in Tirolo also means discovering one of the most charming villages in the Burgraviato area: scenic walks, vineyards, apple orchards, and the silhouette of Castel Tirolo provide the backdrop for an evening that blends culture, entertainment, and landscape. The Tirolo evening represents the festival's farewell, the moment when the energy gathered in Merano over the previous days spreads throughout the district before looking forward to the next edition.
The closing night of the 19th edition of Asfaltart was held in Tirolo (Tirol) on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM, in the village center. It was the epilogue of a festival that had filled Merano with over 200 shows by international troupes in the preceding days (June 12-14). In Tirolo, the artists were distributed across various areas of the village—from the event park to the church square—offering a path of widespread performances featuring jugglers, clowns, acrobats, and musicians. As with all festival stops, admission was free, with voluntary contributions for the artists.
Time: 8:00 PM – 10:30 PM, center of the village of Tirolo (Tirol).
