The patronal feast of the Arbi hamlet in the Alta Langa area of Cuneo
The Ascension Patronal Feast is the most anticipated event of the year for the Arbi hamlet, a district of the municipality of Sale delle Langhe, in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Nestled among the woods of the Alta Langa at an altitude of about 750 metres, this small rural community renews a tradition every year that intertwines faith, memory, and conviviality.
The central moment of the feast is Holy Mass, celebrated in the charming church of San Giacomo in the Arbi hamlet. Over the years, the celebrations have been officiated by Father Aldo, bringing together residents and those with ties to this place. Participation, as highlighted by local authorities, is always heartfelt and widespread, a sign of the vitality of a community that proudly preserves its roots.
The religious portion is always followed by the actual celebration, featuring a moment of meeting and refreshments. Depending on the year, the day has been enriched by an aperitif offered by the Polisportiva Salese or a community dinner with traditional Langhe dishes, such as polenta and typical appetizers, accompanied by local wines. In some editions, there is also a walk or trek along the paths surrounding the hamlet, a perfect opportunity to discover the Alta Langa landscape.
Sale delle Langhe is a rustic and still little-known village, immersed in extensive woods and famous for the cultivation of the Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, the prized Piedmont hazelnut. The Arbi hamlet, located on a hill dominated by the characteristic Castello Rosso, is a small nucleus that preserves the intact charm of the authentic Langa, made of united communities and handed-down traditions.
In recent years, the hamlet has seen improvement projects, with the arrangement of the area around the church and the cemetery, a sign of the commitment of the residents and the municipal administration of Sale delle Langhe to keep this portion of the territory alive. The Ascension Feast remains the symbol of this bond: an intimate and genuine event, far from mass tourism, capable of restoring the truest sense of Piedmontese hospitality.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Arbi hamlet of Sale delle Langhe celebrated its traditional Ascension patronal feast. The day opened with Holy Mass officiated by Father Aldo, which gathered residents in a moment of reflection and community.
At the end of the celebration, those present shared an aperitif offered and prepared by the Polisportiva Salese.
