The Slow Food Presidium artichoke and Taggiasca DOP oil in the village of Perinaldo
In Perinaldo, a municipality in the Province of Imperia perched on the hills of the western hinterland, the Artichoke and Extra Virgin Taggiasca Oil Gastronomic Review is one of the most anticipated food and wine events of spring. The Perinaldo artichoke is a Slow Food Presidium, a prized local variety that the review celebrates in all its variations.
The heart of the festival is the pairing of the artichoke with Taggiasca DOP extra virgin oil, another excellence of western Liguria. The food stalls offer a variety of artichoke-based dishes, expertly paired with local oil, while markets of typical products liven up the village with local specialities.
Perinaldo is famous for being the birthplace of astronomer Gian Domenico Cassini and for its observatory: the review is an opportunity to discover this fascinating village, combining culture with flavours. Amidst music, conviviality, and the charm of the historic centre, the Artichoke Festival is an event that tells the story of the agricultural identity and quality of the Riviera dei Fiori.
The 2026 edition, the XXVI, took place on Sunday, May 10, in the village of Perinaldo. The star was the Perinaldo artichoke, a Slow Food Presidium, paired with Taggiasca DOP extra virgin oil.
