Seven disciplines to try at the Palaindoor in Aosta
The Martial Arts Festival is an event hosted at the Palaindoor in Aosta that brings together the main martial disciplines practiced in the Aosta Valley in a single weekend. Organized by ASD Aikido VDA, the festival offers demonstrations, exhibitions, and above all, the opportunity for the public to try the various arts for free.
The heart of the event features the seven disciplines represented by local sports associations: Aikido, Karate, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Ju-Jitsu, and Boxing. Each discipline showcases its techniques in an alternation of spectacular exhibitions and open practice sessions, where anyone—children, teenagers, and adults—can step onto the tatami and experience it firsthand.
The festival also has a strong educational value: in some editions, it has been the concluding event for school projects, such as one dedicated to digital awareness and cyberbullying prevention, which combined experiential learning with martial arts. This demonstrates how sport can become a tool for growth for the younger generation in the Aosta region.
The 2026 edition, the third, takes place on Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, at the Palaindoor in Aosta. Friday is reserved for about 120 students from local schools, while on Saturday, the event opens to everyone: from 3:00 PM, free trials are available, with demonstrations of the seven disciplines starting at 4:30 PM. The performances are curated by the seven Aosta Valley martial arts associations.
The seven disciplines represented are: Aikido, Karate, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Ju-Jitsu, and Boxing. It is advisable to arrive early to avoid waiting times for the free trials.
