The traditional patronal festival in the heart of Cascina, in the province of Pisa
The Annual Fair of Cascina is much more than just a large market: it is the defining event for the town of Cascina, in the province of Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany. For generations, it has marked the most awaited spring appointment, drawing thousands of people from across the Lower Valdarno and the Pisan plain. The fair is intimately linked to the feast of the patron saints Innocenzo and Fiorentino and is held according to a precise traditional rule: the first Tuesday after the last Monday of May.
For an entire day, the center of Cascina transforms into a large open-air commercial route. Traditional stalls selling various goods are distributed along the most important streets and squares of the town:
Visitors can stroll among clothing, household goods, local products, sweets, handicrafts, and curiosities of all kinds: an open-air shopping day that is above all an opportunity for the entire community to meet.
The most anticipated moment of the day is the grand evening tombola, which comes to life starting at 8:00 PM in front of Palazzo Pretorio, along the main street. It is a popular and well-attended event, organized in collaboration with local associations, bringing families and citizens together in the square until late at night.
Enriching the festival is the funfair, set up at the Tettora parking lot, which is very popular with children. The day of the fair intertwines with religious celebrations in honor of Saints Innocenzo and Fiorentino, with services held in the church area: the devotional and popular dimensions have always coexisted in this recurrence.
Although it is a deeply local fair, the Annual Fair of Cascina is a perfect opportunity to discover a lively town in the province of Pisa, far from the major tourist circuits. Those visiting Tuscany during this period can capture the authenticity of a tradition that endures over time, blending market, popular faith, and entertainment.
The Annual Fair of Cascina 2026 will take place on Tuesday, May 26, in accordance with the tradition that sets it on the first Tuesday after the last Monday of May. As every year, the day will conclude with the grand evening tombola starting at 8:00 PM in front of Palazzo Pretorio, while the funfair will be set up at the Tettora parking lot. The fair remains linked to the patronal feast of Saints Innocenzo and Fiorentino.
