Three days of flavor, music, and conviviality in the heart of Augusta
Launched in 2026, Ammuccamu Food Festival is a food and wine event that brings flavor to the heart of Augusta, a seaside town in the province of Syracuse, Sicily. The festival's name plays on a Sicilian dialect expression, an invitation to "eat" together with pleasure: a call to the conviviality that serves as the common thread throughout the event. For three days, the historic center becomes a large food village where traditional Sicilian recipes engage in a dialogue with world cuisines.
The heart of the festival is Piazza D'Astorga, but the event also extends through the streets and spaces of Augusta's historic center, between Piazza Duomo and Via Garibaldi. The choice of the city center is no coincidence: the organizers' goal is to revitalize the historic district and strengthen the sense of community through high-quality cultural programming capable of attracting visitors from across the Syracuse area.
The Ammuccamu formula combines flavors, spectacle, and entertainment. Highlights include:
Ammuccamu is conceived and organized by the Sedicinoni cultural association, chaired by Stefano Cacciaguerra, the same group that also promoted the Shortini Film Festival in Augusta. The event is supported by the Municipality of Augusta and receives a grant from the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage of the Sicilian Region. Entry to the area is free: you only pay for what you choose to enjoy at the stalls.
The inaugural edition of Ammuccamu Food Festival was held from April 24 to 26, 2026, in Piazza D'Astorga, in the historic center of Augusta. For three days, the square transformed into a food village, with local and international cuisine stalls, entertainment, and shows from the afternoon until midnight.
The program alternated between music, street performers, juggling, masterclasses, and family activities. Initiatives also included a photo contest and the "The dish that tastes like you" culinary competition. The most anticipated moment was the grand finale on Sunday, April 26, featuring the presentation of Michelin-starred chef Massimo Tringali, a native of Augusta who has led a Michelin-rated kitchen in Paris for years, followed by the awards ceremony for the competitions.
Augusta is located along the Ionian coast of the province of Syracuse. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania-Syracuse motorway, taking the Augusta exit. By train, the city is served by the Augusta station on the Messina-Syracuse line. The event takes place in the historic center, in Piazza D'Astorga and the surrounding streets.
Entry to the festival area is free. Food stalls are pay-as-you-go. Opening on Friday from 6:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM, with the program running until midnight.
A family-friendly event with spaces and entertainment for children. We recommend reaching the center on foot, as the area is pedestrianized during the event.
