The patronal feast of Città Giardino, blending faith, local food, and major concerts
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every year, at the end of August, the village of Città Giardino, in the municipality of Melilli (Province of Syracuse, Sicily), gathers around its patron saint for the Saint Bartholomew the Apostle Feast. The event weaves together the religious dimension, deeply felt by the locals, with the popular and convivial spirit of the Community Festival, becoming one of the most anticipated moments of the local summer.
Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, commemorated by the Church on August 24th, is one of the most venerated martyrs in Christianity and the patron saint of the village. The religious festivities revolve around the parish dedicated to him on Via Pirandello and are experienced as an occasion for spiritual reflection as well as a meeting point for families, generations, and neighborhoods.
The popular heart of the event is the Community Festival, hosted in the square of the Saint Bartholomew Parish. Here, local families prepare traditional Sicilian dishes, served at food stalls in a festive atmosphere that celebrates authentic flavors, collective memory, and local hospitality. The festival is more than just gastronomy: it is a way to reconnect and share the community's identity.
The most spectacular moment is the concert evening in Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II, the main stage of the festival. In recent years, Città Giardino has hosted prominent Italian artists: in 2025, Mr. Rain was the headliner, while previous editions featured names such as Bianca Atzei and Clementino. Alongside the major concerts, the stage hosts cover bands, local talent, and entertainment for all ages.
Performances, musical shows, tastings, and children's activities make up a program designed to involve the entire village. The festival is organized by the parish in collaboration with the Melilli municipal administration, with the goal of strengthening community ties and promoting local culture. For those visiting south-eastern Sicily, the Saint Bartholomew Feast is the perfect opportunity to discover the authenticity of a village off the beaten tourist path.
The Saint Bartholomew the Apostle Feast and the Community Festival of Città Giardino (Melilli) will return, according to tradition, at the end of August 2026. At the moment, the official dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated by the organizers. To find out about events, musical guests, and schedules, it is advisable to follow the channels of the Saint Bartholomew Parish and the Municipality of Melilli.
