The wine fair in the historic center of Salorno, featuring over 40 wineries from North and South Tyrol
The "ama - wine fair" event brings the historic center of Salorno sulla strada del vino (Salurn an der Weinstraße) to life. As the southernmost municipality of South Tyrol, in the province of Bolzano, it serves as a showcase for the region's rich winemaking tradition. The fair brings together over 40 wineries and wine producers from North and South Tyrol in a single evening, offering visitors the chance to taste and compare a wide range of labels, from crisp whites to more structured reds.
The streets and squares of Salorno fill with tasting stands, and the town—with its baroque and renaissance-style buildings dominated by the silhouette of Haderburg Castle—provides the backdrop for an informal and pleasant wine-tasting stroll. The winemakers are present in person: attendees can chat with the producers, learn about grape varieties and vintages, and grasp the differences between companies in this border territory, where the Salorno Gorge marks the transition between the German-speaking and Italian-speaking areas.
Salorno is located along Italy's oldest wine road and is considered one of the main hubs for white wines in South Tyrol. Surrounded by vineyards and orchards that offer spectacular blooms in spring, the town houses several historic cellars and is part of the Südtirols Süden (South Tyrol's South) tourist region. The "ama" fair is thus part of a food and wine calendar that also includes events like "Wine and Environment" at the foot of the castle, testifying to how deeply wine is woven into the community's identity.
The fair is promoted by the Castelfeder Tourist Association, the body that showcases Salorno and the municipalities in the southern part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
The "ama" wine fair returns to Salorno on Saturday, July 18, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM in the town's historic center. The event brings together over 40 wineries and wine producers from North and South Tyrol, who will present their labels along the streets and squares of Salorno.
Full program details (list of participating wineries, any tasting passes, and prices) will be published by the organization closer to the event on the South Tyrol Wine Road and Castelfeder Tourist Association portals.
Salorno is easily accessible by car along the A22 Brenner motorway (Egna/Ora or San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona exit) and by train thanks to the railway station on the Brenner line. The historic center, where the event takes place, is just a short walk from the station.
The fair takes place on an evening in July, starting at 6:00 PM in the town center.
For updated information on times, participating wineries, and any tasting tickets/passes, it is recommended to check the portals of the South Tyrol Wine Road and the Castelfeder Tourist Association. The area offers numerous accommodation options between Salorno, Egna, and the Bassa Atesina.
