The hip hop culture festival in Alba, featuring breaking, street art, and urban sports
Every year, in the heart of the Langhe, the city of Alba (in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont) transforms into the Piedmontese capital of hip hop culture with ALBAttle, a festival organized by the Be-Street Cultural Association. For four days, the "Giacomo Morra" Exhibition and Congress Palace in Piazza Medford becomes the stage for breaking battles, exhibitions, workshops, and street art performances, drawing young enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad.
ALBAttle is not just a competition; it is a full-fledged festival that showcases hip hop in all its forms. Alongside breaking battles—a discipline recently added to the Olympic program—the festival offers dance workshops, live graffiti sessions, song contests, and demonstrations of skateboarding and street basketball, creating a continuous dialogue between art and urban sport. The goal is to provide young people with a space for expression and connection, where creativity, discipline, and community spirit merge.
From 2026, ALBAttle joins the European project Breaking The Walls, funded by the European Union, which connects Alba with Porto (Portugal), L'Aquila, and the twin city of Banská Bystrica (Slovakia). The project uses breakdance as a tool for the physical and mental well-being of Generation Z through Dance Movement Therapy, aiming to involve half a million young people across Europe. The competitions in Alba thus become qualifying stages for international events such as Check The Style in L'Aquila, Outbreak Europe in Banská Bystrica, and The World Battle in Porto.
The choice of Alba is no coincidence: the lead city of the project, world-famous for its white truffle and the UNESCO-listed Langhe wine landscape, welcomes the energy of hip hop culture every year, proving that tradition and modernity can coexist. The final day of the festival is dedicated to the local area, with visits to city museums and the discovery of local agricultural products.
The 2026 edition of ALBAttle brought four days of hip hop culture to Alba, joining the European project 'Breaking The Walls' for the first time. The festival featured breaking battles in numerous categories, workshops, a song contest, and urban sports demonstrations, with national and international judges, DJs, and hosts. The final day was dedicated to discovering the Alba area, including its museums and local products.
The heart of the festival with the major breaking competition (an Olympic discipline), serving as an official qualifier for the Check The Style World Final 2026 (L'Aquila), Outbreak Europe (Banská Bystrica), and The World Battle (Porto).
Judges: Telemare, Zen, Fiamma Rocka, Kleju, San Andrea. DJs: DJ Lady Funk, DJ Edward. Hosts/MCs: Gillet, Snook, Max Momentum, MG.
The main competitions and events are held at the "Giacomo Morra" Exhibition and Congress Palace, located at Piazza Medford 3, in Alba (CN). Some activities and workshops also take place at other venues throughout the city.
Alba is accessible by car via the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway (Alba exit) and by train via the Bra-Alba and Asti-Alba lines. From the city center, the Exhibition and Congress Palace is within walking distance.
